Woman Who Whined She Was Too Pretty For Jail Avoids Jail Sentence

Lauren Cutshaw was given a small fine and must complete 24 hours of community service for her drunk-driving offense.

Bluffton, SC – The drunken woman who tried to convince police that they couldn’t arrest her because she was a “very clean, thoroughbred, white girl” will serve no time in jail for her drunk driving offense.

Lauren Cutshaw, 34, was going 60 mph in a 30-mph zone in Bluffton in 2018 when she failed to even slow down for an intersection with a four-way stop, The Herald-Palladium reported.

Officers pulled her over at approximately 1:45 a.m., The Island Packet reported at the time.

The police report said Cutshaw's eyes were bloodshot and glossy, and she slurred her words. Officers also smelled liquor coming from the car, according to The Island Packet.

The woman told police she had only had two glasses of wine. But when officers asked her how much wine she had put in the glasses, she replied “I mean I was celebrating my birthday.”

Cutshaw, a real estate agent, performed poorly on sobriety tests and then blew .18 percent on breath test, according to the police report.

But she explained to the officers that there was no need to arrest her because “I’m a white, clean girl.”

Cutshaw claimed she’d had perfect grades her whole life, she’d been a cheerleader and a sorority girl, she graduated from a “high-accredited university,” and she was in the National Honor Society, according to The Island Packet.

When faced with the prospect of jail she said, "I don’t wanna know what it’s like. I’m a pretty girl, please don’t make me go there."

She also told officers that her boyfriend was a cop and said she was trying to get to his house when they stopped her, according to the Herald-Palladium.

Officers asked what that information had to do with anything.

“You’re a cop, you should know what that means,” Cutshaw replied, according to The Island Packet.

Officers found marijuana and rolling papers in Cutshaw’s car, and she admitted she “may have” smoked pot earlier in the evening, the Herald-Palladium reported.

Despite her enthusiastic arguments to the contrary, Cutshaw was arrested and taken to jail.

She was booked on charges of driving under the influence, speeding, disregarding a stop sign, simple possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to The Island Packet.

“Making statements such as these as a means to justify not being arrested are unusual in my experience as a law enforcement officer and I believe further demonstrate the suspect’s level of intoxication,” the officer observed in the police report.

Cutshaw recently pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor DUI charge, and was ordered to pay a $187 fine and to complete 24 hours of community service, according to Inside Edition.

She must also complete alcohol safety classes.

The court did not sentence her to serve any time in jail, and allowed Cutshaw to keep her license, Newser reported.

Prosecutors also agreed to drop the additional charges against her.

Cutshaw did lose her job as a real estate agent following her arrest, according to Inside Edition.

And guys should tell the judges they're too handsome for jail, also. If eyelash fluttering works on judges, then I guess the guys can twirl their mustaches or something.

I have never heard of anyone getting jail time for a first offense DWI/DUI but they do usually lose their license for a period of time.

As a S.C. native, first offense DUI means automatic loss of driving privileges for 1 year. WTF? Wish I had been a pretty girl in 1999. I would NOT have whined, regardless.

I don't think we are getting the whole story, but shame on whoever decided to make this an inflammatory story. She was drunk and saying things she shouldn't have, but she isn't a celebrity and portraying her as an "above the law, white privileged person", is not only nonsense, but will punish her far more than the law will. I am guessing the prosecution saw how she was persecuted and decided to let her off easy. Giving her back her driver's license is huge. NC law says lose license for 1 year on first offense. So, in a sense, if I am correct, her saying those things actually helped her, indirectly.

This will just entitle her to do it again. She got completely off on a DUI -AND- weed charges? Wow.

Looks like she turned down offers by resident trolls to mudshark. Sucks being a troll. Maybe you would be more welcome over at BJM.

First time offenders never go to jail. Her "prettiness" had nothing to do with it. Hell, its hard enough to get habitual offenders to go to jail

Should’ve lost her license for a year and ordered to have an ignition interlock installed on her car when her license was reinstated.

Anyone else arrested in that area and did jail time should sue for equal treatment.

Well people will be watching that judge in the future for a pattern. And this b won’t be so lucky the next time.

It's bad enough that people are claiming they are being targeted because of their race, now some are claiming they are too attractive to get in trouble. When will people ever stop deflecting responsibility for their actions? Rhetorical, I know.

As a fellow beautiful person I agree with this young woman. We beautiful people need to be held in high esteem.

Maybe she should "serve" an entire week in select sections of Chino. Maybe her attitude would change somewhat.
