Woman Tries To Run Down Baby-Daddy With Car, Hits Their Baby

Police said that Sarah Gomez may have intentionally run over her boyfriend and their seven-month-old daughter.

Ontario, CA – A 19-year-old mother was arrested after she ran over her boyfriend and their baby with the family car on Monday night, killing their 7-month-old daughter.

“It appears alcohol was involved,” Ontario Police Sergeant Jeff Higbee told the Daily Bulletin.

Police responded to a call about a domestic dispute at about 11:40 p.m. on May 28 in the 500-block of W. D Street, KABC reported.

Sarah Gomez and her 21-year-old boyfriend had just returned from a family gathering, and were arguing inside the car in their driveway, when the boyfriend got out of the car with their baby in his arms.

“He got out of the car with the baby, and that’s when she struck them,” Sgt. Higbee told the Daily Bulletin. “But we’re not certain yet how that happened. That’s still under investigation.”

“I believe, at this time, that the father and the child were either at the side of the car or at the back of the car, I'm not sure. It did happen near the apron of the driveway and getting into the street area," he explained, according to KABC.

Family members rushed the critically-injured baby girl to the hospital, where she later died. The baby’s father sustained only minor injuries, according to the Daily Bulletin.

Police arrested Gomez at the hospital and charged her with DUI resulting in great bodily injury or death and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, KABC reported.

The mother was transported to the San Bernardino County West Valley Detention Center where she was held on $100,000 bail.

Authorities had expected to charge Gomez with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and Sgt. Higbee told KTLA it appeared that the incident was intentional.

No information was available about what had caused the argument that inspired Gomez to run over her boyfriend and their daughter.

Unbelievable. Such a pointless result for an argument. Alcohol involved? Stunner.

Too many people in this world who have no control over their emotions. As a result a baby lost her life and a family will never be the same. RIP baby girl.

Affraid @LEO0301 is right about some people not being able to control their emotions. Young women in love aren't known for self control. They are the worst at controlling their emotions. The baby girls father most likely knew that his woman was unstable. Unstable people and alcohol are a volatile combination. This could have been avoided by taking the car keys.

@Marxest - this person was not displaying love for the man out for her baby. If she truly cared she wouldn't have been driving or even near the baby while impaired. I agree that the father would've known that she was unstable. Where, also, are the adult relatives of this baby? Why didn't ANYONE try to stop this woman from driving?! Whether drunk or emotionally distraught (or both) this person clearly should not have been given charge of a vehicle much less given responsibility for a human life. There really ought to be a license required to procreate!!

"The baby girls father most likely knew that his woman was unstable." She was drunk. Even stable people do stupid stuff when they are drunk. Doctor imagination.
