Palmetto, FL – A Florida woman told police that she took a kitchen knife and stabbed herself in the stomach because she was tired of Donald Trump being president.
Palmetto police officers arrived and found the woman standing outside with blood all over her legs, hands, and face.
She wasn’t holding a knife, according to the police report.
Officers asked the woman what had happened and she lifted up her shirt and showed them three stab wounds.
An officer said in the police report that the stab wounds were still bleeding when police arrived.
The woman told the officers that she had stabbed herself because she did not want to live in President Donald Trump’s country.
“I’m tired of living in Trump’s country, I’m tired of Trump being president,” she told the officer, according to the police report.
Police found a large amount of blood on the kitchen, bathroom, and living room floors of the woman’s home.
She was transported to the Blake Medical Center under trauma alert and admitted to the hospital under the Florida Mental Health Act known as the Baker Act, Newsweek reported.
The Baker Act is a 1971 law that permits an at-risk person to be placed on a psychiatric hold for up to 72 hours.
The law can be invoked by law enforcement, as well as doctors, mental health professionals, and judges, according to Newsweek.
The woman told police she had been admitted to a hospital under the Baker on a previous occasion.
The officer said in the police report that he thought that without care or treatment, there was “substantial likelihood” the woman would cause serious bodily harm to herself or others.
The police report said that the woman told officers that her daughter was aware of the incident but didn’t have a key to her house, so she asked them not to lock her doors.
