Woman Knocks Down Officer With Her Car, Then Runs Him Over

Police said Connie Jeanene Davis intentionally ran over a Morristown police officer on Sunday afternoon.

Morristown, TN – A Tennessee woman is facing multiple charges after she intentionally ran over a police officer with her car on Sunday afternoon, leaving him seriously injured.

The incident occurred when Morristown Police Corporal David Klein responded to the scene of a domestic disturbance on July 8 at a property that Connie Jeanene Davis was refusing to leave, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

Cpl. Klein attempted to pull Davis from her car so that he could arrest her, the Knoxville News Sentinel reported.

That’s when Davis intentionally accelerated in reverse, knocking Cpl. Klein to the ground. She ran over him, the Morristown Police Department said in a news release.

Other officers were able to take Davis into custody while Cpl. Klein was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.

The officer suffered head and leg injuries, and underwent surgery on Sunday evening, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel.

Cpl. Klein’s condition was not known on Monday but his injuries were believed to be non-life threatening, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Davis was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, evading arrest, and disorderly conduct, the Knoxville News Sentinel reported.

She remained in jail in lieu of a $300,000 bond, the Knoxville News Sentinel reported.

@Pat1978 You're telling on yourself. Where did i mention race? I could have referred to her sex, and that women normally get the long end of the stick in domestic abuse situations. Or her age, which somehow everyone, including you, somehow makes her eligible to be crazy. Where was her mental health mentioned in this article?

But since you mentioned racist, i guess that makes you a racist on this site.

@ByAnyMeansNecessary She should've been shot. No one cares that she's white like you and all the other cop haters are trying to suggest. She's old and crazy but she should've been shot in self defense by the officer (like Sam Dubose) though it's unlikely he had the opportunity.

@Burgers Allday And your plan would be to let her leave? I agree that it's a bad idea to grab someone from a running car but sometimes a bad idea is the only idea, at least in the spur of the moment.

I just have to wonder how many of the incidents like this are fueled by the rampant drug epidemic?

That's a good bit of a bond.......guess she doesn't get to use white privilege and get off on a lower bond ?

Don't try to extract drivers from running cars. Bad tactics -- don't do it like this. This policeman lived, but the next one may not be so lucky. Because Blue Lives Matter.
