Woman Fires Warning Shot To Break Up Fight Among Youths, Gets Fatally Shot
Beaumont, TX – A 41-year-old woman was shot to death by a juvenile after the woman fired a shot from her own gun into the air to break up a fight.
Police received a call of a shooting at apartment complex at 4:26 a.m. last Sunday, according to KFDM.
Monica Landrio saw a group of 30 teens in an altercation and Landrio fired her gun in the air to stop them.
When police arrived, they found Landrio with multiple gunshot wounds, according to KFDM.
A 15-year-old male suspect fled the scene. He was later apprehended by police.
The 15-year-old was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. At the time he was charged, Landrio was in critical condition in the hospital.
She has since succumbed to her wounds.
Justice of the Peace Ben Collins Sr. said at that time it was possible the charge could be upgraded to murder, according to KFDM.
