Witness Who Testified At Amber Guyger's Murder Trial Found Murdered

Joshua Brown testified for the prosecution of former Dallas Police Officer Amber Guyger a week before he was murdered.

Dallas, TX – A key witness in the trial of former Dallas Police Officer Amber Guyger for the murder of her neighbor Botham Jean was fatally shot outside an apartment building in the city’s medical district on Friday night.

Joshua Brown, 28, was shot to death at about 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 4 in the 4600-block of Cedar Springs Road, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Witnesses flagged down police after the shooting and officers found Brown on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Brown was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital where he later died, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Witnesses told police they heard gunfire and then saw a silver four-door sedan fleeing the parking lot.

Government sources told the Dallas Morning News that Brown had been shot in back and thigh.

Police have not released any description of Brown’s killers.

Brown lived across the hall from Jean and testified about the commotion he heard on the night his neighbor was killed by former Officer Guyger, the Dallas Morning News reported.

He told investigators that he heard what sounded like two people meeting by surprise, and then he heard two gunshots.

Brown testified that he wasn’t able to hear what was said between Guyger and Jean but that they had both been talking at the same time, KIRO reported.

He told the jury he had actually met Jean for the first time earlier that day and said that two had a brief conversation in the hallway outside their apartments.

Officer Guyger was initially arrested on a manslaughter charge on Sept. 9, three days after she fatally shot Jean while believing she was in her own apartment and that he was robbing her.

A grand jury later indicted her for murder.

Guyger, who was fired by the Dallas police several days after the shooting, was convicted of murder by a jury on Oct. 1.

The jury sentenced her to 10 years in prison, out of a possible maximum of 99 years.

“[Josh Brown] bravely came forward to testify when others wouldn't," Dallas County Prosecutor Jason Hermus told the Dallas Morning News. "If we had more people like him, we would have a better world."

Attorney Lee Merritt, who is known for representing client in lawsuits against police, is representing Jean’s family and posted a lengthy tribute to Brown on all of his social media.

“An ADA has confirmed that it was in fact Brown who was killed although they have yet to identify a suspect or motive for the shooting,” Merritt wrote on his official Facebook page. “The case is now in the hands of the Dallas Police Department. Brown’s testimony stood out as a fact witness who was approaching his apartment directly across from Botham Jean’s apartment when shots rang out.”

“Brown was still visibly shaken up from the incident when he took the stand to testify on behalf of the prosecution,” the post continued. “His murder underscores the reality of the black experience in America. A former athlete turned entrepreneur— Brown lived in constant fear that he could be the next victim of gun violence, either state sanctioned or otherwise. We have more work to do deal with the constant threats to our community both from within and without.”

“Brown deserves the same justice he sought to ensure the Jean family. The Dallas County criminal justice system must mobilized to identify his killer and see that he is held accountable for this murder,” Merritt wrote.

Activists immediately began protesting after Guyger was sentenced, angry that she had only been given a 10 year sentence.

Those same protesters were outraged to hear about Brown's murder and immediately claimed a police conspiracy.

However, it turns out that Brown was also shot outside a strip club in Dallas in November of 2018, KNXV reported.

Merritt said that Brown had been "concerned that that person might try to come back and finish the job."

The person who wounded Brown and killed his friend Nicholas Shaquan Diggs 10 months ago has not been apprehended, according to KNXV.

Let the conspiracy theories begin!

For one thing he wasnt a key witness..she admitted to what she did. He didn't need to testify to put her away. They had the 911 call and pretty much everything that happened that night documented.

That sucks, but it likely has nothing to do with the case (despite what the conspiracy theorists will claim). The Jury decided on the sentence not the police.

This is likely the same person from last year who shot him found out where he lived and decided to finish the job.

"Police have not released any description of Brown’s killers."

Of course not. They were involved in his assassination.

Probably the only ties to the Guyger case was that the people who previously tried to kill him now had a fresh address to find him.

"However, it turns out that Brown was also shot outside a strip club in Dallas in November of 2018." I guess that was just a police plot too, huh?

I knew the racist on this site would soon speak... Interesting how we know what was in Botham Jeans pockets and his toxicology and yet still have no toxicology from the lady murderer. The racism from this site never surprises me.

I watched Mr. Brown testifying and when he started to tear up speaking of his neighbor it really made me think to myself that he wasn't some thug because #1 a thug wouldn't do the right thing like this young man did. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and his Mother. I cannot imagine her sense of loss. RIP Joshua Brown 🙏💝

From all I have read here, it seems our girl was living in the real wrong neighborhood! It also seems our boy was a pure thug and deserved to die. So at least she has the satisfaction of knowing the thug that help put her away is pushing up daisies, as she does her time.

Black on black crime, no one will care, no one will protest, no one will speak up...only the conspiracy theorists will say it’s the cops...at least no one was hurt.
