Widow Of Fallen Officer Reveals She Is Pregnant With Couple's Third Child
Roseville, CA – The widow of a young Roseville police officer who died unexpectedly last week has announced that she is pregnant with the couple’s third child.
Roseville Police Officer Cameron “Cam” Landon, 36, and his wife, Angela, had not announced the pregnancy prior to his sudden death on July 16, Placer County Sheriff's Deputy Richard Cervantes told Blue Lives Matter on Monday.
The couple also has two sons, four-year-old Wyatt and two-year-old Weston, according to a fundraising campaign established to help the family in the wake of their loss.
“With Angela’s permission, we are announcing that a third child is on the way….” The Placer County Deputy Sheriff’s Association confirmed in a Facebook post on Monday.
Officer Landon died at home in his sleep, and his exact cause of death has not been released.
Prior to his law enforcement career, Officer Landon served in the U.S. Marines from 2005 until 2009, The Union reported.
He then returned to his hometown area of Nevada County, and began working for the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) as a correctional officer.
“[He was a] great employee,” Nevada County Sheriff Shannan Moon told The Union. “An extremely focused young man, knew what he wanted in his life.”
Sheriff Moon said that Officer Landon’s former coworkers were stunned to learn of his sudden passing.
“Everyone’s in shock,” the sheriff said. “I have a lot of staff that worked with him that are pretty upset.”
In June of 2013, Officer Landon began working for the Grass Valley Police Department (GVPD), where he served for two years.
“Cam was a wonderful husband, father, friend, and officer,” the GVPD said in a Facebook post.
Even after leaving the department, Officer Landon “maintained close relationships” with his fellow GVPD officers, the agency wrote.
“Cam was an easy-going, super-friendly, genuinely kind person,” Grass Valley Police Chief Alex Gammelgard told The Union. “He had extensive life experience and knew how to handle people.”
“The Grass Valley Police Department mourns with our fellow officers in Roseville for losing Cam at this young age,” Chief Gammelgard added.
Officer Landon was a four-year veteran of the Roseville Police Department (RPD).
His memorial service will be held on Thursday, according to the GoFundMe page.
