Milwaukee, WI - An officer-involved shooting in Milwaukee on Sunday evening at a busy waterfront park left many witnesses outrages, and several videos have made their way onto the internet (videos below.)
The shooting occurred at around 7:40 PM Sunday evening on Lincoln Memorial Drive. Milwaukee County Sheriff's Deputies were pursuing an SUV which drove up onto the median during the pursuit.
Video shows that as the vehicle was driving down the median a deputy opened fire.
The reason for the shooting hasn't been confirmed, but the video shows that vehicle did appear to swerve directly at the deputy who opened fire. Unfortunately, the reasoning for the shooting is only speculation at this point because the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office has yet to release any details besides confirming that a deputy was involved in a shooting.
Immediately after the shooting, a large crowd gathered on scene to heckle officers as they were working an active scene. Word quickly spread on social media that the police just killed either one or two people.
Former state Rep. Mandela Barnes (D-Milwaukee) tweeted, "Crazy scene at the Lakefront. One person left dead after office involved shooting."
Reports from organizations in contact with the family say that the suspects survived the shooting and have been hospitalized. Further information about their condition has not been released at this time.
Law enforcement eventually forced everybody out of the park area and the crowd dissipated. People are talking about more protests on social media, but the response is likely to be affected by what details are released on Monday.
UPDATE: The suspect was identified as Terry Williams.
