Houston, Texas - A Harris County Deputy Constable was left without his patrol car when the suspect stole it while the deputy constable was on a call (video below.)
On Monday night, Brandon Cantu attempted to break into a gas station and then hid nearby. When a Harris County Precinct 6 Deputy Constable arrived and got out to investigate, the suspect calmly walked over to the car, got in, and then drove it off.
The deputy constable apparently left the car running and unlocked.
Cantu then went over to his ex-wife's house, broke down the door, and assaulted her and a man that she had asked to stay over because she was afraid Cantu would show up to assault her.
"He grabbed a knife and he was hitting me all in my face here and swinging and trying to stab me," she said, according to ABC13.
Deputies were able to track the SUV to the ex-wife's house, and Cantu fled on foot.
A Houston PD helicopter assisted with the search. Fur missiles were launched, and they located the suspect hiding in a horse stable.
Cantu was arrested on charges of aggravated assault of a family member, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, auto theft and evading arrest.
