VIDEO: Suspect Runs Himself Over While Fleeing Police

Isaiah Gellatly ran himself over during a pursuit.

Happy Valley, OR – A suspected thief was run over by his own vehicle when he tried to get out of his car and flee police on Nov. 19.

Police responded to a report of a theft at about 11 p.m.

The caller told police dispatchers that a man was trying to open the door of her mother’s car and then walked into a neighbor’s house and took items out of another vehicle.

The caller then reported that the man drove off, according to KATU. (Video below)

A Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputy located the suspect's parked vehicle, and saw Isaiah Gellatly lying fully reclined in the driver’s seat. The deputy also saw a large pile of belongings in the back seat and throughout the car, according to KATU.

The deputy shined a light into the car and Gellatly sat up and then started the car and fled. The deputy chased after Gellatly, who drove through spike strips that were laid down by deputies. But that didn’t stop Gellatly.

Police said he drove through stop signs and crossed into oncoming lanes on a flat tire in an effort to get away.

Gellatly then began having trouble controlling his car. He started hitting curbs and retaining walls and hit the bumper of a sheriff deputy’s car that was in pursuit, according to KATU.

Then Gellatly opened the driver’s side door and jumped out of the Honda and started running, but he never put the car into park. He ran toward a building and was running alongside his own rolling car. When Gellatly tried cutting in front of the car, he got trapped as it rolled forward and pinned him against a wall.

Police said Gellatly’s leg was pinned under the wheel of the car and the tire was completely deflated. Deputies used a car jack to lift the car off his leg, according to KATU.

Gellatly, 31, will likely be charged with attempt to elude, reckless driving, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle and third-degree theft, according to KATU. He was taken to the hospital and treated for a broken leg.

Deputies found the stolen items in his car and returned the property to the victims.

Portland police had also arrested Gellatly in 2016 for stealing a car that had the owner’s eight-year-old black Labrador inside.

Now this is what I call instant karma. This put a biiiig smile on my face this morning !

I'm sure if we share this on farcebook , or other farcebook controlled social media, the sharer will get put in "farcebook jail" by their "thought police". Think I am going to share it anyhow, even if it doesn't meet their idea of "community standards".

What? A black car injuring a white man? Surely this video is fake.

But seriously, how many times is this going to happen?

Anybody else notice the name of the place where this happened? Happy Valley? I'm sure the deputies were "happy" to help the city officers with this stupid criminal.

So... 200,000 years of human evolution and this guy is all we have to show for it. Charles Darwin would be disappointed.
