VIDEO: Suspect Overpowers Officer, Who Doesn't Quit Til She Wins

The officer was alone confronting a much larger suspect, but she didn't let up.

Columbia, SC - A Columbia police officer was recorded fighting a suspect who was much larger than her, and had just assaulted a female and threatened others with a knife.

The incident happened at around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the BP S-Mart in the 1000 block of Elmwood Avenue, according to The State.

Donald Songster Brown, 39, punched a female in the face and threatened people with a knife while not allowing them to leave the store.

Brown then left the store and was confronted by a lone police officer.

At the start of the video, Brown ignored the officer's commands, and she responded by deploying her Taser. The Taser failed, and Brown tried to walk away.

The officer wasn't about to let him get away, and she charged after him, grabbed him by the back of his neck and tried to take him down. Brown was able to slip his jacket and escape the officer's grip.

He continued to try to get away as the officer tried again to take him down. Instead the man overpowered her and threw her to the ground as the cameraman and numerous bystanders stood by and watched.

The officer got right back up and sprayed Brown with pepper spray. He continued to fight with the officer's attempts to control him, sending the officer to the ground again.

Finally, a bystander jumped in and tackled Brown to the ground and punched him as another good Samaritan kicked him in the head while he was on the ground.

The officer recovered and was able to place Brown under arrest.

Brown was booked on charges of attempted murder, armed robbery, kidnapping, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and resisting arrest.

This could of been a very bad situation. He was not cooperating but he was not being violent toward the officer . Judging by the size he could of done a lot of damage to her. Back up I am sure was on the way. Pride is not worth loosing your life over. The true heroes are the bystander. So many ppl now day just want to stand behind the camera and not get involved . You guys rock . Also the heading is a little(lot) misleading my opinion. I have mad respect for all police. Thanks .

That "good samaritan" who kicked him in the head is probably the female he punched in the face in the store.

GJLCreative If the suspect was on PCP, etc no one person could take him down, man or woman. Please do not make a blanket statement about Female Officers. I supposed you want them all behind a desk? And just how many Female Officers have saved the lives of their male partners? I am no was a feminist, but you sir are way off base.

Your argument makes no sense. Some criminals have guns and some dont also. Thats still no excuse to have physically limited females out in the field. I dont care where you put the females but they have ni business trying to overpower male suspects.

And yes, you are a feminist. The definition of one, actually
