VIDEO: Suspect Body-Slams Officer During Arrest

Michael Harris lifted a Grove City police officer over his head and slammed him onto the pavement, the video showed.

Grove City, OH – A Grove City police officer was violently body-slammed by an intoxicated suspect during a brawl outside a business on Monday (video below).

The incident occurred outside a business on North Meadows Drive after employees called police to report that an aggressive man was causing a disturbance and refused to leave, WBNS reported.

Officers arrived at the scene and identified the suspect as Michael Harris, who they believed was intoxicated.

Harris said he did not know anyone in the area and that he did not even know where he was, according to court documents.

As two officers spoke with the suspect out in a parking lot, he attempted to jump into the open driver’s side door of a vehicle, dashcam footage showed.

One of the officers immediately intercepted him, at which point Harris began fighting with them.

The video showed Harris as he lunged at one of the officers and lifted him over his head.

He then slammed the officer onto the ground, landing on top of him, as the second officer tried to pull him off from behind.

Harris kept the officer pinned to the pavement as a third officer jumped into the melee, the video showed.

The combative suspect was ultimately subdued and arrested on charges of disorderly conduct while intoxicated, obstructing official business, resisting arrest, and felony assault, WBNS reported.

The officer who was slammed to the ground during the altercation did not suffer any serious injuries, police said.

Harris, a redshirt sophomore for Eastern Kentucky University’s football team, is due to be arraigned on Wednesday, WBNS reported.

You can watch dashcam footage of the officers’ encounter with Harris in the video below:

I was going to say, to lift a cop up that high and body slam him was hard to believe.... #rolltape..... but then I saw that he's an EKU football player.... and saw the photo.... still impressive, but this likely will end his college football career, and place him behind bars.

I hope this ends his career. Sports figures seem to get away with just about everything depending on how much talent they have. Time to make an example.

A body slam to pavement is potentially lethal. Is deadly force not authorized in a situation like this?

Let's be real. If cops didn't have batons, tazers, and guns at their disposal, they would regularly get their asses beat. Most cops have never been in a fight in their life and were probably bullied growing up, so being a cop gives them that sense of alpha they have never had before, and would never be able to earn on their own.

You seem to know a lot about working the streets in uniform. And you understand the risk officers face each day pretty clearly.
Let me guess, your an unemployed liberal that got a ticket last week?
Try it for a year or so, then let's see if the same idiotic statements come out of the hole in your face. Probably wouldn't last through your first agility test, let alone your first street fight like this one!

The Headline sounds a lot worse than it is. The officer was very fortunate that it wasn't a worse (Body Slam).
I hope the punk get's what's coming.

IseeWhere? "Still impressive"? Do you routinely support people assaulting our cops? Besides, what that punk did wasn't that hard to do, and it was hardly a body slam. The cop still had him locked up, which was very clear after they got on the ground. Sadly, this is just another case of a belligerent person who escalates the situation by not cooperating. Sorry, you don't get to choose if you are going into custody or not....the cop does. If he's wrong, let the judge decide.

This video provoes once again that there are very clear physical and mental differences between men and women. Sady, I think this female was pretty much worthless. It was pretty awful to watch the near total uselessness of her efforts to help. I'm not saying women can't contribute...there are things they can do better than men...I've watched my wife show up when a male cop and male perp were about to go at it, and she talked the bad guy into cuffs in about 2 minutes...no fighting, no assault. He seemed happy to do it for her. Women can often defuse situations like no male cop could.

But the gal in this video? WTF? She could have at least tased him or PS'd him long before she left her partner get assaulted like this. Or even just get on the radio again to ask for more help!! Good grief.

I had it happen to me in 1992 while conducting an interview of a suspicious person.
I did not have backup on scene. As I tried to radio his info for warrant check my portable radio was not readable by dispatch. I got picked up like a barbell by the suspect thrown down on pavement head first. The suspect tried to get my weapon but failed. Then he ripped my asp baton from my belt and began to beat me about the face and neck. Yes deadly force was used and I went home with injuries. It can happen. FYI A jury was used to decide that I was justified in using deadly force.

They need to start sending animal control into the hood to take all the Hood Rats off the street. If they can't act like humans they shouldn't be living among humans.
