New York City - One woman who claimed to be a New York University Professor screamed and cussed out the NYPD at a lecture on Thursday night.
Gavin McInnes, British-Canadian writer, actor, comedian, Libertarian commentator, and co-founder of Vice Media, was scheduled to be the guest speaker at NYU, and chaos erupted upon his arrival.
According to Mediaite, the angry woman, who didn't give her name, initially was angry because she didn't "kick the ass" of a speaker, and then because the NYPD arrested the suspects who attacked that speaker.
The angry, alleged NYU Professor, shouted "who's protecting NYU from this bullsh?" She also screamed at the NYPD, "Why are you here? You’re not here to protect these students from Nazis? No, you’re not!” And continued with her screaming, "how dare you aholes protect Neo-Nazis? Fk you! Fk you! They’re trying to learn about human rights and against racism and xenophobia and LGBTQ rights and you’re letting these f**king Neo-Nazis near here!”
The professor insisted it was the NYPD's fault that students attacked McInnes, because it was their job, something they should do, for them. She told the NYPD that they should "kick their a**."
As an aside, New York University issued a statement later that said that the woman was not recognized as a Professor with NYU, although it was possible that she might be a Professor at another university. On Twitter, McInnes said "Thanks for asking if I'm OK guys. I was sprayed with pepper spray but being called a Nazi burned way more." He is the leader of a group called "The Proud Boys" and calls himself a "western chauvinist", according to NBC New York.
You can see the nutty professor here:
Eleven people were arrested by the NYPD for Criminal Mischief and Disorderly Conduct after protesters began assaulting McInnes as he entered the venue. None were students. A "Make America Great" Hat was stolen from an unknown person and set on fire. Rioters remained outside as McInnes walked into the venue, yelling and breaking glass. They also disrupted his lecture by chants, according to Breitbart.
One attendee, reported to be a Trump supporter, had water thrown in his face by protesters as he was about to give an interview on camera outside the venue. It was reported that McInnes was pepper-sprayed by an unknown rioter.
A group known as NYU Anti-Fascists organized the protest via Facebook, which was entitled "Disrupt Gavin McInnes at NYU." "Anti-Fascist" is becoming the new label for anarchist groups.
One event attendee said that the protesters went too far. He said "We just wanted to come and listen to the speaker. As soon as we got here, a bunch of individuals came, tried to Mace us, tried to punch us several times. I've been called a Nazi."
There was no violence inside the building, only outside. McInnes was able to finish his speech through all of the disruption without having to evacuate the building. The protesters began to leave after the 11 suspects were arrested and after being warned to disperse by New York Police Officers.
Our thoughts and prayers to all law enforcement who have to deal with these anarchists.
