Tampa, FL - Jail video shows an inmate attacking a deputy and trying to strangle him in a sneak attack. Then other inmates jump in to help take the suspect down.
Surveillance cameras captured Kiondre Zachary sneaking up behind Deputy Hernandez. Zachary suddenly wrapped a towel around the deputy's neck, choking him. The deputy was able to break free, but Zachary was ready for a fight. The deputy was alone, under attack, and surrounded by 72 inmates.
In an unexpected turn of events, the other inmates attacked Zachary, taking him down, and helping the deputies get him under control.

Deputy Hernandez suffered a twisted ankle in the assault.
Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office released a statement praising the actions of the other inmates, "Due to the overall professionalism and respect that detention deputies display towards the inmates on a daily basis, the inmates came to the deputy's aid preventing the deputy from being seriously injured."
Kiondre Zachary was taken to an isolation cell. He had been in jail on a burglary charge, but will likely now face new charges stemming from the assault.
