Milwaukee, WI – Seven Popeyes restaurant employees were fired after a brawl between co-workers was captured on video by a customer (video below).
The incident happened on Nov. 13 as Rich Fourte was waiting to try out the new chicken sandwich at a Popeyes in Milwaukee, NBC News reported.
The video, which quickly went viral, started as an exceptionally large number of employees were yelling at each other behind the counter and over the counter as customers watched.
Then one of the female employees jumped over the counter and attacked another employee, with the help of two more women in Popeyes uniforms.
A man in a Popeyes uniform struggled with the women in the video, trying to break them up as the group of four women screamed and pulled hair and threw punches at one another.
But Fourte said that wasn’t the first fight that he saw inside the chicken restaurant that night, NBC News reported.
"As that fight was settling down, there was another fight that broke out, and once I saw that, that's when I decided to take my phone out," he explained.
Fourte said he couldn’t tell why the employees were fighting but that when he entered the restaurant, there were five employees sitting at tables and more than a dozen additional employees inside the store.
He came to the Popeyes to see what all the hype was about with the chicken sandwich, but he left the restaurant without ordering anything, Fourte told NBC News.
Popeyes released a statement that said the franchise owner had fired all the employees that had been fighting, according to NBC.
The on-duty manager of the restaurant was also fired, according to the New York Daily News.
Seven employees total were terminated in connection with the melee.
Popeyes said it was considering taking additional steps to prevent an incident like this from happening again, NBC News reported.
"This behavior is clearly against our expectations and standards," the chicken restaurant said in a statement.
Somebody called the police and reported there was a weapon involved in the incident, NBC News reported.
Milwaukee police responded to the restaurant but didn’t find any weapons at the scene.
No arrests were made because no one present in the restaurant claimed to be a victim in the incident, NBC News reported.
