Riverside, OH – A Riverside police officer accidentally hit his partner with a Taser prong as the duo arrested a man on Thanksgiving (video below).
The altercation between officers and Christopher McClinton, 22, was captured by a bodycam worn by one of the officers.
In the video, officers were seen asking McClinton to identify himself. He was cautioned that he would be charged if he did not comply.
McClinton resisted their efforts, and was asked one last time to provide his identification.
“All you gotta do is comply, dude,” one of the officers said on the video.
McClinton again refused to cooperate. His girlfriend can be heard urging him to cooperate in the background.
The video showed officers as they reached into the vehicle, and removed McClinton through the passenger side door while he tried to pull away from them.
McClinton struggled with the officers, and one officer deployed his Taser.
On the video, the second officer began yelling in pain as soon as his partner deployed the Taser.
“Let go, let go! You got me!” the officer said.
The Tasered officer hit his head on the ground when he fell, police said.
As he attempted to recover, his partner finished handcuffing McClinton and apologized to his injured comrade.
When backup units arrived, the officer who deployed his Taser told them he hit the other officer with one probe.
The injured officer was hospitalized for the head injury, but was expected to make a full recovery.
The names of the officers have not been released.
