Miami, FL – A passerby captured cell phone footage of the moment a Miami police officer accidentally tased his partner instead of the suspect they were trying to arrest (video below).
The incident occurred as two officers were trying to make an arrest at the corner of Southwest 10th Avenue and Fourth Street in the city’s Little Havana neighborhood on Jan. 4, WSVN reported.
Police said the officers were arresting Lazaro Perez for a drug transaction when the officer was zapped.
Cell phone video showed that the man was struggling with officer, resisting arrest in the middle of the street
In the video, an officer deployed his department-issued Taser on Perez to try to get him to comply with officers.
But when the officer fired the Taser, he accidentally hit his partner.
The telltale pop of the Taser can be heard on the video, and then the second officer screamed and fell to the ground beside the suspect they were arresting.
The electrified officer then popped right back up and jumped back into assisting his partner with the arrest, the video showed.
Both officers continued struggling with Perez until backup arrived and another officer helped force the suspect into handcuffs.
Then they stood Perez up and marched him to their police car as if nothing unusual had happened, the video showed.
Officers continued arriving on the scene for several minutes in a wave of uniforms that awed the woman filming the video.
Perez and his cohort, Rigoberto Castillo, were arrested on multiple charges, including drug crimes, WSVN reported.
