VIDEO: NAACP President Claims He Was Profiled On Stop, Then Chief Releases Video

The police chief has openly called NAACP President Rev. Jerrod Moultrie a liar after his false accusations.

Timmonsville, SC - The South Carolina NAACP president posted about how he was racially profiled on a traffic stop, and now the police chief has responded by releasing bodycam video and calling him a liar (video below.)

NAACP President Rev. Jerrod Moultrie posted to Facebook on April 13 about how he was just racially profiled on a traffic stop.

The allegations in his account are disturbing, and would indicate profiling by the officer - except none of it was true.

Below is a transcript of the interaction as posted by Rev. Moultrie:

Me: hello sir how can I help you

Officer: I am stopping you cause you fail to put on a turn signal and do you have any drugs in the car

Me: sir how would you know If I used my tum signal when you was approaching me as I turn and is there any drugs in your car?

Officer: License and registration

Me:sir can I take off my seat belt and get it

Officer: sure

Me: (as i open glove box i said )sir this is a new car i just purchased and all ! have is bill of sale, insurance card and registration from car I am transferring tags

Officer: ok where you work and who car is this and why you in this neighborhood

Me: sir I am a pastor and I live in the house on the left

Officer:And I guess I am the bill gates

Me: sir what's the problem

Officer: I ask who car for the last time and why you in this neighborhood

Me: I told you for last time who car and where I live.( as my neighborhood starts to come out there house) By the way sir can I speak to your supervisor

Officer: walks away with my information When he returned he said did you know your tags comes back to another vehicle

Me: sir I just explain this to you

Officer: you need to park this vehicle and never drive it till you get this straight with DMV

Me: sir I have purchased multiple vehicles and never heard this now officer and I start fussing cause I said well i will be driving my car sir and anyt time I want

Officer: I am waming you to not drive this car till tags get straight and just know I am doing you a favor tonight not taking you to jail or writing you a ticket

Me: sir you might be doing your Self a favor but you certainly not doing me a favor.

The reverend finished off his post by saying that his wife and baby were in the back seat, but still he was profiled and accused of having drugs.

"Guess I can't be a pastor and can't drive a Mercedes Benz and live in a nice neighborhood," Rev. Moultrie said. "...someone needs to answer for this behavior and this officer will."

After seeing the post, local community activist Timothy Waters went down to the police department to look at the bodycam and dash camera footage, according to WPDE.

He was shocked to see that everything the reverend said was a lie.

"Once I got a copy of that body cam, it's as if he made the whole story up. And I felt like he set us back 100 years, because think about all of the racial profiling cases (that) are true," Waters told WPDE.

WPDE reports that Timmonsville Police Chief Billy Brown said that Rev. Moultrie even went so far as to contact him the next morning to claim that he had been racially profiled and mistreated.

"He made a comment that the officer accused him of having drugs in the car. He said that his wife and grandchild was in the car. He asked them not to move because the officer looked as if he might shoot them or something. He also made mention that the officer continued to ask him about his neighborhood. Why was he in that neighborhood? And threaten(ed) to put him in jail in reference to something dealing with the registration to the vehicle," Chief Brown told WPDE. Except all of those accusations were lies.

"When I saw the video, I was shocked that someone who is supposed to be a community leader, a pastor, and head of the NAACP would just come out and tell a blatant lie. It bothered me. It really bothered me, thinking about the racial unrest it could've cost in the community and it's just troubling to me that someone who held a position like that would come out and just tell a lie," Brown told WPDE.

Rev. Moultrie refused to comment to the news station, and instead referred them to Timmonsville NAACP officers Kenneth McAllister and Henry James Dixon.

Both men told the station that they didn't need to see the video because they support Rev. Moultrie, and know that he's a man of integrity who wouldn't lie.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
Compulsive lying describes a condition in which a person tells falsehoods out of habit, sometimes for no reason at all. It is also known as pathological lying, mythomania, and habitual lying.
A German physician named Dr. Delbruck first described the condition in 1891. Five of his patients had a habit of telling excessively large lies. He named their behavior pseudologia phantastica (spelled pseudologia fantastica in American English).

Many people are dishonest on occasion. Yet pathological liars tend to lie more frequently regardless of context.

...
Compulsive Lying vs. Pathological Lying:
The terms “compulsive lying” and “pathological lying” are often used interchangeably. Medical literature currently does not differentiate between these terms. Yet there are professionals within the mental health community who classify the terms as subtly different conditions.

In this framework, compulsive lying is the habit of telling falsehoods uncontrollably. People in this category may be more comfortable telling lies than telling the truth. They may lie repeatedly about important as well as unimportant matters.

People who lie compulsively often have no ulterior motive. They may even tell lies which damage their own reputations. Even after their falsehoods have been exposed, people who lie compulsively may have difficulty admitting the truth.
...
Meanwhile, pathological lying often involves a clear motive. A person may lie to gain attention or admiration. Other lies may be designed to garner pity or help from others. Even self-harming lies may provide some form of internal gratification.

People who lie pathologically may mix falsehoods with the truth to make their lies more credible. As such, pathological lying is often considered a subtler form of manipulation than compulsive lying.

Kenneth McAllister and Henry James Dixon of the NAACP support this lying Rev. and continue to believe he has integrity. Case after case of lying about racial profiling and police brutality shows how much integrity there is in the NAACP--None! It seems Rev. Moultrie should be kicked out of both his church and NAACP.

Satan's wolf in sheep's clothing using the Pastor bit to give credibility to intentional and blatant lies to do nothing more than enflame a hostile environment of hate towards Peace Officers. How is a Pastor head of the NAACP anyway? God created us all in his own image, yet he segregates his blackness to discriminate against others. I doubt he would have pulled this evil deed if the Officer was Black. I have always felt I could walk into any church to worship Our Heavenly Father, Lord, Jesus Christ - but I would be afraid in his because of the hate he must seed in his followers if he is acting like this.

Ok, SOOOOO, after running his plates and license info, why does the officer mention NOTHING about 'warning' the driver to use the turn signal, which he referenced as the REASON he was stopping him ????

As many cars as I have bought in my life time, and it's been a bunch, I have never been told I can take my tags from my old car and put them on my new car. And as far as his claim of racial profiling? Shame on him. He was treated like any other citizen being pulled over. So if he is claiming racial profiling, does that mean I can claim that the next time I get pulled over for speeding?

What's your point? If you live in Bethesda, I presume you have no real point. Stop trolling and trying to put any iota of blame on the officer. He did absolutely nothing wrong.

Mark my words, social media will be the downfall of our society. As Churchill said “a lie gets halfway around the world before the truth even gets it’s pants on” and this was back when it was just newspapers.

What is sad about this story in addition to the reverend's outright lies is that his two Lieutenants don't even want to see the truth; they stand by their leader. And we wonder why church attendance is declining today!

People like this man, aren't interested in the truth, aren't interested in racial relations improving. Their only interests are keeping the perceived animosity alive and well. How else does he remain a figure head in his community if "racism" is dead? He is filled with hate and bias as are the other two who back him and aren't interested in the truth either; regardless of what the video says. They aren't interested in fixing real problems, only placing blame that doesn't exist. Sad!

There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs — partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.

What a liar!! Body cams are an officer’s best friend against junk like this. A grown man doesn’t know you don’t just slap plates on a vehicle that don’t belong to that vehicle? The officer was courteous and informative.
I find it telling that yet another “reverend” can somehow afford to drive around in a car that the vast majority of his congregation can’t afford but probably helped pay for. Shame on him on so many levels.

As said above, a lying reverend. He should resign his church or at least make confessions of being a liar. He should publicly issue an apology to this officer. Thank God for the body cam. The officer was not rude to him at all, just informing him of the license plate error and telling him to drive safe.

Well we know that history is filled with devious and despicable people in positions of authority and leadership who have attempted to inflame an innocent person who was just doing their job or just going about their business and got caught up in someone else's web of lies. It's a shame to say, but it's the raw truth that this " " man of the cloth (ahemm!) doesn't follow the scriptural counsel of being an honest and forthright person which would promote true christian values and morals as opposed to what he blatantly exposed a character trait of the Scribes and Pharisees that sought to put Jesus to death. Actions speak louder than words "Mr." Jerrod Moultrie. You can save that title of Reverend because you ARE NOT someone to be revered in that manner.

I AM PRETTY SICK ABOUT THIS STORY. Let me share a true short story. My Husband has been a LEO for 24 years with his current agency and 2 years with another, also former Air Force Police. When he was first presented with having to wear body cam about 5 years ago he was disgruntles and insulted. His view was that his agency did not trust him and his word and unscathed reputation should be enough. He was told it was not optional and mandatory. I sat down with him to give him another perspective. I told him It had nothing to do with who he is, has been and is proven to be. Yet it was about his protection and the protection of those he had sworn to protect and serve as well as the integrity of his Department and City he works for. He has come to see the truth in this fact. He would never, never go on a call without his body cam. This officer could have lost his job, credentials, integrity and so much more. The City was spared a possible law suit and worse... Racial up rise and tension leading to Officer safety. This man needs to be dealt with and stripped of his so called NAACP credentials. As a Pastor he needs to get a better grip on his Pastoral leadership. His community could have suffered deeply by his BLATENT lies. Thank you and God Bless our Peace Keepers in the world!

alperry98

Some are getting wrapped in the paperwork or the reason for the stop (but just to be clear, the officer could have given the driver 2 tickets - improper lane change and wrong tag on vehicle) when the real issue is the state of our country. No one is perfect; we are all guilty of sin! But it is incidents like this that fuels the anger and hatred that neighbors and families harbor toward each other. If we don't stop tearing each other down (through lies and deceit) we are in for more trouble than what we've seen.

There have been a lot of these body cam videos out that have proven those Blacks who think that they owed because of "Slavery" that they never experienced in any way. There are so many that are proven to be lying so if it were to really happen to someone these lies will play against them. The NAACP is supposed to help resolve resolve racial tension not fabricate lies to cause more racial tension. This so called NAACP representative should be kicked out of the organization because he is NOT a leader. A good leader sets good positive examples not to race bait the Black Communities. The rest of the NAACP board ignoring the true evidence and letting him lead the organization on a down hill path should be replaced as well by those who want to help open people's eyes to real issues not fabricated stories. Focus first on the main problem that the majority of the Blacks problems are Black on Black not White on Black.

I am NOT saying Rev. Moultrie was lying; the car dealer very well may have told him just what he said, but SC Car Dealers issue a 45 day temporary tag with the purchase of a vehicle, good with a bill of sale. This is to allow you time to properly transfer registration, or obtain a new registration. I don't know what to say about Rev. Moultrie's allegations, but the video clearly disputes his account. If the NAACP tolerates this without censure, they will lose all credibility.
If I were in law enforcement, I would DEMAND the department implement a bodycam program. This officer's career could have been ruined by these baseless allegations.

I believe the Schlaeger case in Charleston started over invalid registration of a vehicle; this did not go to that extreme but it is law to have vehicles properly registered, PERIOD. And this guy, Pastor, officer of NAACP blatantly lying and his peers going to the extreme of saying they do not believe he lied when it is right in front of them? Recorded. I never have thought the NAACP was out for the interest of the people, they are out for themselves; here is a fine example.
