VIDEO: Man Tases Deputy, Grabs His Gun, Then Good Samaritans Jump In The Fight

Bryan Stephen Roque was arrested after he struggled with a deputy and used the deputy's Taser to zap them both.

Pasco County, FL – A man used a deputy’s Taser against him during a violent struggle, and got ahold of the deputy's gun before good Samaritans who stopped to help subdue him.

The incident began when Pasco County Deputy Darren Goodwald tried to stop a grey Dodge Caravan with license plates that tracked back to a different vehicle, WFTS reported.

The driver of the Caravan, 30-year-old Bryan Stephen Roque, jumped out of his vehicle after he was stopped, ran around a home, and then returned to his minivan.

That’s when Roque backed his vehicle up and struck the deputy’s patrol vehicle, WFTS reported.

After the crash, he jumped out of his own vehicle again and went to try and steal another nearby vehicle, but the Nissan he’d targeted was locked.

Police said Deputy Goodwald tackled Roque and attempted to take him into custody. During the struggle, the suspect was able to take the deputy’s Taser, according to WFTS.

Roque pulled the trigger and zapped himself and the deputy with the Taser, incapacitating them both.

As soon as he had regained control of himself after the shock from the Taser, Deputy Goodwald reached for his gun and found Roque in the process of trying to take it from him, WFTS reported.

The deputy desperately screamed for help.

That's when good Samaritans jumped into the fight to help subdue the suspect.

A second deputy arrived and deployed his Taser on Roque, allowing them to take the suspect into custody, according to WFTS.

One of the Good Samaritans said he was home from work sick and heard what was happening outside his house.

“Don’t matter if it was a deputy or not, just somebody asking for help, so I went and helped," Jose Bernal told WFTS.

But the man’s quick and selfless reaction garnered praise from the deputy he assisted.

“There’s a lot of good citizens in this county that are willing to stand up and do what’s right even if it puts them in harm's way," Deputy Goodwald gratefully told WFTS.

Roque was arrested and charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, carjacking, resisting an officer with violence, grand theft, depriving officer of means of protection or communication, and driving while license is suspended or revoked, WFTS reported.

"Are you alright Officer?" came a voice in the distance. That warmed my heart SO much. Usually it's "let's video the encounter and not get involved" but in this situation people did a stand-up job and saved lives. Bravo to all the people who assisted!!

A criminal caught in the act and resisting you mean? That transcends all types unfortunately.

This officer needs some training in verbal judo and vocabulary! I absolutely agree sometimes we have to get down to the level of the turds but this was over the top. And don't tell the guy you are going to taze him or shoot him if you are not willing to do it! He knew you didn't have it to pull the trigger on either the taser or the gun and that is why you were in for the fight of your life. JUST DO IT!

First glad cop is ok.

But some serious tactics and situation awareness issues.

Firtst foot pursuite never telling dispatch scrip of perp, direction he was running, and not telling them he was behind a house. The other thing was he kept saying to perp hecwas going to taze the fuck but never did and took for granted perp was giving up. Took his eye off perp while talking to neighbor. Luck he is alive. Should of tazed the fuck when he closed with perp behind the house. And this is why u carry a second gun. I always carried a g19 as service and g26 as back up on patrol. 2 is 1, 1 is none. Cop was hesitent to give a ass whipping because of fucking body camera. Bodcams are double edge sword.

Ok first thing work on your running and cardio. Second thing you need to take some ground fighting lessons. Your department needs to work on its defensive tactics like this situation.

Thank god officer is ok! I’m not a police officer, but the bodycams r a good and bad. I think it makes some Officers second guess what they want to do? And that is really sad. And to some of the ppl commenting, if u have never been through that type of thing JUST STFU!!!!
