Erik Alas Moya was shot multiple times after he pointed his weapon at New York police.

Bronx, NY – The New York Police Department (NYPD) has released bodycam footage that captured the moment when a suspect pointed a gun at two officers (video below).

The incident occurred in the 300-block of East 167th Street at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 14, 2019, NYPD Detective Martin Brownlee said in the video release.

NYPD 44th Precinct Officer Harris Haskovic and Officer Corey Simpson were out on patrol when they received a report that a male suspect had pointed a firearm at a man and a woman as they were walking in the area, the New York Post reported.

“Give me everything you’ve got!” the suspect demanded, according to the victims.

The suspect, later identified as 21-year-old Erik Alas Moya, fled on foot with a female companion as one of the two victims called 911.

The caller provided the dispatcher with detailed descriptions of the suspect and the woman, and also said he believed the suspect was drunk.

Officer Haskovic and Officer Simpson soon spotted an individual matching that description carrying what appeared to be a handgun with a blade attached to it, the New York Post reported.

They jumped out of their patrol vehicle and ordered the suspect, later identified as Alas Moya, to show his hands, bodycam footage showed.

That’s when Alas Moya got into a shooting stance, raised his right arm and pointed the weapon in the officers’ direction, Det. Brownlee said.

The officers immediately discharged their duty weapons, firing a total of 12 rounds at the gunman.

Alas Moya was hit multiple times, and immediately collapsed to the ground.

He was rushed to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery.

A Rogue River tactical imitation pistol that was also equipped with a spring-assisted folding knife was recovered at the scene, Det. Brownlee said.

Alas Moya, who has since been released from the hospital, was indicted on charges of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and three counts of menacing.

The NYPD’s Force Investigation Division and the Bronx District Attorney’s Office’s investigation into the officer-involved shooting remains ongoing, Det. Brownlee said.
