VIDEO: Man Arrested After He's Caught Faking Slip And Fall

New Jersey prosecutors filed charges against Alexander Goldinsky for faking a slip-and-fall in a Woodbridge business.

Woodbridge, NJ – A New Jersey man has been charged with fraud after he threw ice on the floor of a business and pretended to slip and fall on it (video below).

Prosecutors said that 57-year-old Alexander Goldinsky was under subcontract to work at a Woodbridge company in the fall of 2018, according to WABC.

Surveillance cameras in the break area captured Goldinsky filling a cup with ice, and then turning around and pouring the ice out onto the floor.

In the video, Goldinsky stood over the ice for a few seconds, as if considering his next move.

Then, after making sure nobody was watching, he grabbed onto the counter and eased himself down to the floor, pretending to have slipped, the video showed.

Goldinsky laid prone of the floor of the breakroom until somebody came along and found him, WABC reported.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office said that Goldinsky then proceeded to file a false insurance claim for his ambulance ride to the hospital and treatment of his imaginary injuries.

"The investigation revealed that Goldinsky purposely threw the ice on the floor in the cafeteria at his workplace, placed himself on the ground, and waited until he was discovered," the prosecutor's office said, according to CNN.

Police arrested Goldinsky on Jan. 15. He is facing charges of fraud and theft by deception, according to WABC.

“Yes, I was brought to the police department,” Goldinsky told WLNY.

He claimed the video didn’t show him throwing ice on the floor.

“I didn’t do it, it was a mistake,” Goldinsky said.

He has been scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 17.

"Fraudulent claims cost everyone and we will aggressively prosecute those who illegally manipulate the system," Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey told CNN in a statement.

New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal has made a statewide crackdown on insurance fraud a priority, according to WLNY.
