VIDEO: Game Announcer Tries To Tell Crowd They Won't Play Anthem - He Lost

The announcer said that they would skip the national anthem, but the crowd wasn't having it.

Fresno, CA – When a at Fresno State University softball game announcer told the crowd that they wouldn't be playing the national anthem, the crowd took over (video below.)

The announcer told the crowd, “There will be no anthem, let’s just play softball,” according to the Fresno Bee.

The crowd at first let out a loud chorus of boos.

But then many in the crowd stood up and began singing the national anthem. Many fans removed their hats and placed their hands over their hearts.

The players stopped their pregame warmups to turn around and face the flag.

“Honestly, I was shocked (when) the announcer stated, ‘There will be no anthem, let’s just play softball,’” said Tiffany Marquez, who was at the game and posted video on Facebook, according to the Fresno Bee. “Within seconds, you could hear people in the crowd singing and the volume of their voices building. There I was, standing in the middle of a true testament to unity and patriotism.”

Bob Kayajanian, the event coordinator, said he was the one who made the mistake.

He said it was national protocol when multiple games are played to play the national anthem only before the first game.

“We got caught (off-guard),” Kayajanian told the Fresno Bee. He said that both teams turned to face the field and they all started singing the national anthem.

“They started to play some music and the people took that as the national anthem and they all started singing, which I think is obviously a wonderful thing to show off their patriotism,” Kayajanian said, according to the Fresno Bee.

Kayajanian said it was a learning experience and the going forward they would play the national anthem before every game.

Someone should sent this video to all those dumb ass NFL losers. See if those platers can figure out what needs to be done to save their big dollar salaries. Listen you flat nosed mouth breathers... stop crying and start doing something constructive. Organize youth groups and educate them on proper conduct and action when being approached by a police officer. Teach them to show respect to the police and above all else...... COMPLY and keep you mouth shut. The arrest is then fast, polite and you are released in shot order. Now comes the plea deal... let’s see the suspect was polite, compliant, helpful with questions and answers and as the officer thinks for a minute... he was an ok guy!! Let’s give him a break! Do you know why the officer would be willing to give the suspect a break? Answer... the suspect was a descent individual and did not act like most of the street thugs cops mean. Understand you are going to jail! Now you can go nicely and make a good impression on the cop or you can go dragging and kicking, screaming and shouting, fighting and resisting the whole way. You do the math and guess which suspect is going to get a break?

Think about it!!! NFL players teach African-American youth how to be ladies and gentalmen and help them learn to understand the pride MLK had for his people as all people. Teach them to wear their pants right so their soiled underwear is not showing. They are on the street and can have belts, not like in jail. When I was a kid growing up “black folk” were ALWAYS the sharper dressers. Polished shoes, shirt and ties, sport coats and as I kid I watched them to see hoe to meet, talk and get the ladies. They were such smooth talkers! I high school after class I was talk nasty to a girl and Jimmy Lee, who was two years older then me, came up and slapped me in the back of the head and made me apologize “to the young ladie”. Black men were true ladies men and gentlemen. What happen to the black community?

where is their self respect? I worry about where the black community is taking itself. I fear not in a good place. Why are so many shooting and killing each other? How said! I bet that after the Republicans emancipated the slaves after the civil war, that these new freemen were not killing and fighting each other but banding together to make communities and better lives for each other be sticking together.

I have no problem with patriotism. I do have a problem with a so called "national anthem" written by a proslavery white supremacist by the name of Francis Scott Key. May he burn in hell. I will stand up and pledge alliegance but I will never stand for your "national anthem", because your anthem ain't my anthem.

They cut out the bad parts of the old Anthem for a reason. Its becoming clearer by the day that once slaves were set free, they should have been returned to their home countries. With a huge paycheck for sure. And live like kings. No one should have ever gone through that. People alive today can't change the past either. Never forget the past, but don't live in it & let it hold you back either.

@Det_John_Kimble No one's letting a racist song hold them back. But plenty won't forget the spirit in which the song was written. Even if no one sings the other 3 verses, they are still a part of the official song as far as i can tell.

Even you seem to understand why some people see the anthem negatively.

The Star-Spangled Banner O say can you see, by the dawn’s early light, What so proudly we hail’d at the twilight’s last gleaming, Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight O’er the ramparts we watch’d were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there, O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes, What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep, As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam, In full glory reflected now shines in the stream, ’Tis the star-spangled banner - O long may it wave O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore, That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion A home and a Country should leave us no more? Their blood has wash’d out their foul footstep’s pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave, And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O thus be it ever when freemen shall stand Between their lov’d home and the war’s desolation! Blest with vict’ry and peace may the heav’n rescued land Praise the power that hath made and preserv’d us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto - “In God is our trust,” And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Like it or not, offended by one the versus or not, it's our history. Our history was a bloody one, but look what we have today. I realize some here probably want history rewritten. But knowing the true history keeps you from repeating the bad parts.

@Det_John_Kimble

Well said. And to piggy back off of what you said, many black folk know the true history. What is surprising is how maaany white people don't realize there is more than one verse. Furthermore, many whites refuse to understand why some people will never respect the anthem.

@Hi_estComnDenomn - your response proves once again why people who live in the past will never succeed in the future. If a verse in a song that is no longer included, or a statue that represents a historical figure, or slavery that took place a long time ago is still the driving force in your existence, I feel sorry for you. Take note of people like the Jews and Poles who were exterminated by the millions who are now thriving. They didn't forget the past but have chosen to look towards the future.

Hi_estComnDenomn

@LEO0301 Who is lIving in the past? I hate the song in the present.

And statues? First off Confederate statues are traitorous and should never have been up in the first place. Second off, you can't say dont live in the past and stick up for losers from decades ago.

As far as thriving? I'll just let the reality sink in for you and hopefully before you die you'll have a chance to process what's going on around you.

@Hi_estComnDenomn - let's compare the Jews and Poles to ….let's say, blacks in this country. Who do you think is doing the best out of those three? I'll give you time to think....lol

The university may have a disrespectful and anti-American professor, in Randa Jarrar, but Fresno State fans are a patriotic bunch...Good for them.
