VIDEO: Fur Missile Tracks Down Carjackers After Wild Chase

The suspects in a Miami carjacking were apprehended 250 miles away after a K9 Endo tracked them down.

Seminole County, FL – A determined Volusia County sheriff’s K9 tracked down Miami carjackers after a cross-county chase that ended with two suspects hiding behind a garbage dumpster on Monday (video below).

The Land Rover was reported stolen in an armed carjacking in the Miami area and then popped up on a license plate reader about 250 miles away in Orange City on Monday, WESH reported.

A Volusia County deputy attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, but it fled.

Deputies began following the stolen SUV, but then it fled into Seminole County at speeds in excess of 110 mph.

Helicopter video showed the Land Rover ran a red light and sped onto the interstate before exiting onto State Road 436 in Seminole County.

The Volusia County sheriff’s helicopter continued the pursuit, and notified deputies on the ground when the suspects abandoned the vehicle on Douglas Avenue and made a run for it, according to WESH.

Witnesses gave deputies a description of the suspects

Bodycam video showed Volusia County K9 Endo tracked the suspects through an apartment complex, through heavy foliage in the woods, and into a parking lot where the suspects were hiding behind a dumpster.

The video showed K9 Endo as approached the rear of the dumpster barking, but then backed away, holding a purse in his mouth.

The deputies began yelling at whomever was behind the dumpster to put their hands up, but then the K9 handler said the dog might have just been alerting to the purse, the video showed.

But as the deputies continued yelling commands and K9 Endo started barking excitedly, slowly hands appeared behind the dumpster, the video showed.

First, a woman stepped out from behind the dumpster with her hands up. Then, the video showed 29-year-old Jamie Smell emerged behind her, his hands in the air as well.

The pair matched the description of the suspects that had been given by witnesses: a man in a white tank top and a woman in a black sports bra.

Snell and the woman told police they were behind the dumpster having sex and denied any knowledge of the carjacked Land Rover, WKMG reported.

But the police report said both Snell and the woman eventually admitted their involvement in the police chase.

Snell was arrested and charged with grand theft auto, fleeing and attempting to elude, and resisting an officer without violence, WKMG reported.

Details of the North Miami carjacking were not immediately available.

The woman who was caught with Snell told police that he had picked her up to take her to a job interview, according to WKMG.

The affidavit said she told police that when Snell abandoned the Land Rover in the apartment complex parking lot, she wanted to stay in the vehicle.

The woman said she ran because she was afraid she would end up in jail, the affidavit said.

The sheriff’s K9 who tracked down the suspects is a well-known, heroic German Shepherd.

K9 Endo received a Medal of Valor and a Purple Heart in February of 2016 for an incident three months earlier when he was shot in the neck in the line of duty but continued to do his job and tracked down the suspect anyway, according to a press release from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
