VIDEO: Felon Armed With Homemade Weapon Attacks Officer, Gets Destroyed

Convicted felon Deomontry Boyd repeatedly attacked Las Vegas Metro Police Officer Paul Bruning during a traffic stop.

Las Vegas, NV – A convicted felon armed with a homemade knife was fatally shot by a veteran Las Vegas Metro police officer on Dec. 1, after the career-criminal charged at the officer while reaching for the blade (video below).

“It’s on now,” the suspect told the officer, just moments before gunshots rang out.

The incident occurred in the area of 18th Street and Sunrise Avenue at approximately 7:41 a.m.

Las Vegas Metro Police Department (LVMPD) Motorcycle Officer Paul Bruning spotted an unregistered light blue Infiniti FX35 traveling recklessly at a high rate of speed, LVMPD Assistant Sheriff Brett Zimmerman said in the video release.

The driver, later identified as 43-year-old Demontry Boyd, initially failed to pull over and continued to recklessly drive through the residential area.

Bodycam footage showed the suspect vehicle as it came to a stop at an intersection.

Officer Bruning, 48, ordered Boyd to show his hands, then approached the driver’s window and told him to turn off the engine.

The officer asked Boyd to step out of the vehicle, at which point he noticed a “large, bulky item in his waistband,” LVMPD Captain Jamie Prosser said, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

“What’s that on your hip?” Officer Bruning asked Boyd, after repeatedly ordering him to keep his hands out of his pockets.

Boyd began to move his hands towards the item, and the officer immediately told him not to touch it several times, the video showed.

“It’s a battery...battery pack,” Boyd mumbled as he moved his hand toward the item yet again.

“Boyd ignored Bruning’s commands, and reached for the object that was attached to his belt,” Sheriff Zimmerman said.

Officer Bruning quickly grabbed onto the suspect and told him again not to touch the object, at which point Boyd began fighting with him.

Much of the alteration was blocked by the officer’s shirt, but he could be heard ordering Boyd to get onto the ground and to let go of him.

“Don’t you f--king do it,” Officer Bruning told Boyd at one point.

“Do what?” Boyd replied, just before the sound of a Taser was heard on the video.

The Taser proved to be ineffective against the combative suspect, Sheriff Zimmerman said.

The video briefly showed Boyd’s legs sticking out from beneath the suspect vehicle, while Officer Bruning stood several feet back, catching his breath and giving backup time to arrive.

But a moment later, Boyd came at him again.

“It’s on now,” he told the officer.

“Boyd continued to attack Officer Bruning, and gained control of the Taser,” Sheriff Zimmerman explained.

“Don’t you dare!” Officer Bruning yelled at him as sirens wailed in the distance. “Dude I’m gonna shoot you! I’m going to shoot you!”

Officer Bruning fired two rounds – hitting Boyd both times – just as additional officers arrived at the scene, Sheriff Zimmerman said.

Boyd was transported to the University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

His homemade knife fell to the ground during the fight, and was recovered by police at the scene.

Officer Bruning, a 13-year veteran of the force, was not injured during the altercation.

He has been placed on administrative leave pending a review of the officer-involved shooting, as per protocol, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

“At the end, he was right. His senses were right,” Sheriff Zimmerman said. “There was a knife there.”

Boyd was previously convicted of a slew of felony offenses, including taking vehicle without owner’s consent, receiving stolen property, evading a police officer, and carjacking, according to the sheriff.

His arrest record included offenses of felon in possession of a firearm, multiple burglaries, assault with a firearm, being under the influence of a controlled substance, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, possession of a stolen vehicle, and numerous traffic violations.

Had he survived, Boyd would have faced two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a protected person, and one count of resisting arrest with a deadly weapon.

You can watch bodycam and home security footage of the altercation in the video below:

Typical of the perp. All he had to do was not attack the officer. I’m sure there’s some group out there that will have a problem with the officer killing this POS. The truth is that the officer did his job he gave the perp. every chance to surrender but because the perp didn’t want to listen to authority he decided to fight the officer. The perp got what he deserved.

Does this video have "all" of the stop? It seems as though pieces have been cut out. And why, when the taser failed to work did he not immediately pull his gun out? He was lucky ...

gfc1963 "Another stupid moron who dies because he didn't obey the law. How hard is it just to comply??"

Hi gfc ...."comply"- They likely cannot spell the word , understand it, or abide by it........ Some people have a level of stupidity so broad and so vast it far exceeds the meaning of the word "stupid" itself. Combine that with bravado, a stubborn disposition, a perception that anything negative that comes their way is due to "racism", and a refusal to take personal responsibility for their own actions is a recipe for results such as this to happen again and again.

So many of these 3% life long losers decide to play the tough guy , "I'm slick " , defiant , macho , "stand up to the man", non cooperative, "I'll show them" Karma game......but yet they repeatedly just don't seem to get it that Karma doesn't explain the rules of the game in advance. Oops...................Who's next ??
