VIDEO: Drunk Soldier Decides To Take On All Of The Cops

A Ft. Benning soldier tried to fight multiple officers early on Sunday morning.

Columbus, GA – A combative U.S. Army soldier was captured on cellphone video early Sunday morning, as he drunkenly fought multiple officers outside of a bar (video below).

An off-duty Columbus police officer was working security at the Hooch bar at approximately 2:50 a.m., when he witnessed Travon Matthews, 25, throw a cell phone at another customer, the Ledger-Enquirer reported.

The off-duty officer instructed Matthews to leave, but he refused.

A substantial crowd of onlookers could be seen in the video, as the situation continued to escalate.

Uniformed officers intervened, and told Matthews he was under arrest.

But as one officer began to place a handcuff on Matthews’ left wrist, the soldier stepped back, and shoved the officer’s hand away.

“Put your hands behind your back,” an officer said in the video, just moments before Matthews dodged away from a second officer.

Police then converged on the drunken man, who actively resisted their efforts.

“Fight ‘em as long as you can!” one onlooker chanted repeatedly.

“Tase his a**!" another person in the crowd hollered.

The video showed Matthews as he began actively fighting the three or four officers at the scene. At least one patron appeared to join the melee for a moment, but was quickly ordered to back up by police.

Matthews was eventually tased and subdued, and could be seen lying on the ground as he was placed into handcuffs.

He sustained a small laceration to his head during his altercation with police, and was treated at a local medical center before being booked into the Muscogee County Jail on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct while intoxicated and obstruction, the Ledger-Enquirer reported.

Matthews, who is based out of Fort Benning, was scheduled to make his first court appearance on Monday.

If someone fights with me during an arrest they get hooked for felony resisting. Let the state reduce the charges if they want.

This resistance is typical for young black men and women.

I've fought with more white country boys than all other races. That's Texas though. He's of oriental ethnicity btw.

Dishonorable discharge
No va benefits
No federal school or bank loans.
He fucked himself
All he had to do was submit to arrest.

@Poileas , although he may be part asian, it is obvious that he is also part african. I'm sure he identifies as being black. Multiracial people usually identify with the part of them that will give them the greatest advantage. And how many asians are named "Travon"?

U.S. Army, He should be Ashamed of himself. I served many years and would have our fun but never fight with Police or MP's. Put him back on the streets if he wants to be an animal.

Yes, but he still has to "Stand Tall Before The Man" and then he will be punished.

I agree with Poileas. I've had to fight all races and all three genders (male, female, and confused). In this case, he's now a former soldier and will have nothing to show for his efforts. After the civilian courts and jails get through with him, the military steps in. Jail time is AWOL time. Then there's Conduct Bringing Discredit Upon the Armed Forces (or whatever it is these days). It's conceivable that he could get out of jail and then owe the United States another chunk of his life. Whatever good he did in the military will be erased. He's done!

Whatever his ethnicity is, he did the wrong thing and he will be accountable with the Army if he's still in it. He's an idiot, and for what?
