VIDEO: Dirt Bike and ATV Riders Surround Lone NYPD Officer

A mob of people on ATVs and dirt bikes zipped around the officer on all sides, cell phone footage showed.

Bronx, NY – A lone New York police officer found himself being circled by a mob of people on ATVs and dirt bikes during a harrowing standoff outside a Hunts Point gas station (video below).

The incident occurred near Edgewater Road and Bruckner Boulevard at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, the New York Daily News reported.

The group of bikers had been riding dangerously in the area, so an officer with the New York Police Department’s (NYPD) 41st Precinct pulled up to speak with them.

But as the officer approached, one of the riders dropped his yellow dirt bike onto the pavement and took off running, the New York Daily News reported.

The officer parked his patrol car next to the abandoned bike and attempted to seize it, at which point the swarming crew began zipping around him on all sides, WCBS reported.

While the lone officer focused his attention on the bikers in front of him, another member of the group ran around the patrol car and attempted to steal the dirt bike back from him, the video showed.

The suspect abandoned the effort when the officer began running towards him with a Taser in his hand.

“Come get it!” the officer yelled at the crew.

“The officer was attempting to take the vehicle into possession when the group started to circle their bikes around him,” a, NYPD spokeswoman told the New York Daily News on Wednesday. “One of the individuals attempted to take the bike from the officer at which point the officer took his Taser out.”

The crew fled the area when backup officers arrived at the scene, and are now wanted for obstruction of governmental administration, WCBS reported.

None of the officers were injured during the incident.

Tells a sad tale that those fckers weren't one bit afraid of being shot. Because to me, that would have been justified.

They have the NYPD so freakin scared to even pull their guns out now. He's waving a taser around. Sickening.

F••king punk asses!! These dirt bikes and Atvs aren't suppose to be driven on the city streets. And many of them are stolen!! Stop coddling these creeps and start knocking them off these rides with a nice little love tap from the bumper of your patrol car!

No big deal. The bikers were a bunch of chickenshits. The confiscated bike will cost that kid a bunch and he will rat out his friends in the process.

you know, an expandable baton to the chest of a few riders would have rectified the situation.... and they would get the message that the cops run the streets, not the crooks

Kick the bike, knock their asses over, gas them, put a baton in a wheel, to their head, GET YOUR GUN OUT!!!!

This behavior is clearly what America wants. Police need to keep their own safety as priority one. Simply leave. Let criminals do as they please...then write the report later. This is exactly what American society deserves. Americans have crapped in their own beds. Make them sleep in it.

We all know these perps have done much worse things, and they need to be taken off the streets, as they are menaces to a civil society. I bet a lot of them gassed up at that station and left details such as debit card numbers or video evidence if they paid cash inside (assuming they paid at all).

This is the Bronx, and I am sure AOC would say they are just kids having fun and being harassed by the police, but it is so important to go after them. We cannot tolerate this.

Videos like this really tick me off, but also make me thankful that I don't live in a third-world city like the Bronx.

Those officers deserve to be commended. Completely outnumbered, but saying "come and take it." A few more officers come running, and the perps scatter like roaches who knew they were about to get squashed.

Hey, hey. Look at this...

"Harrison said the department is on the lookout for the other riders who allegedly menace others in the community...

Bain was charged with reckless endangerment, reckless driving, disorderly conduct and criminal possession of marijuana, police said."

Nice strategy. Divide and conquer.

Too bad he couldn't just start firing his weapon at anyone who posed a threat! Of course, then he'd be the one wrong, not those who are taunting or acting like asses!!!! It's so unfair anymore. New York City legislators better do something before it's too late and someone dies!

WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU COPSUCKERS? you seem to advocate police violence and think it is ok for cops to beat, taze, rape, kill, steal, and break the the law!

@MizzV , LOL you have copied and pasted this like 10 times, I think we get it LOL:

"They might be morons deserving of arrest, but they're unarmed and never went after the officer. Keep the damn gun holstered and respond exactly as this officer did. He did a GREAT job holding them off that bike until his backup arrived! You're the type of trigger happy scum that gives good cops a bad name, assuming you're even a LEO!"

There was a time when everyone respected police. Times have changed and do not like. My children respect the badge. This is so uncalled for

And every one of these asswipes will throw a fit when officers don't show up fast enough to prevent their house from being robbed or their families put in danger. The cops should start acting like the mafia...only protect those that support them. If you attack a cop your name goes on a list and they won't show up when you need them.

Maybe half of them will crash out on their way home. Not hit anyone else of course. Maybe a tree or pole.

Got to admit, that cop was hard. "Come get it", lol! But I'm shocked that the officer didn't draw his gun, I would have if I was in his position. That situation could have gotten out of hand really quickly. As for that whole situation, a lot of criminal magic happens im the Bronx. The goddamn Bronx.

De-BLOZIO should be tarred and Feathered for this BULLSPIT.

I’m glad to see the officer had balls enough to stand his ground, even if it was with just his TASER. At least he wasn’t doused with water and then turn and walk away (not wanting to make things worse of course). NYC mayor Warren Wilhelm (aka Bill DeBlasio) should have to come and help the officers stand their ground.

This is the situation NYC “officials” have created for their officers on the street. Total disregard for the law, for officers, for anyone. Police in cities like this should take a stand. Go on “strike” so to speak. I wonder how long it would take these “officials” to BEG officers to get back to work.
