VIDEO: Cops Take Down Knife-Wielding Felon Ordering Officers To Shoot Her

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly said deputies showed "incredible restraint" during the standoff with Melanie Botts.

Palm Coast, FL – The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) has released intense bodycam footage of an encounter with a knife-wielding convicted felon who demanded that police shoot her (video below).

The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. on June 17, after an 11-year-old boy called his mother to beg her to pick him up from his father’s Beth Lane home, Flagler Live reported.

The sobbing boy told his mother that his father’s girlfriend, 36-year-old Melanie Botts, had grabbed a knife after the couple had been fighting.

Botts allegedly pointed the knife at her boyfriend, then went out onto the porch and threatened to kill him if he approached her.

Flagler County deputies rushed to the scene, and were told that Botts had left the residence.

They began searching the area with the assistance of a K9, and soon located her on the back porch, bodycam footage showed.

“C’mon, little doggie,” Botts taunted. “C’mon, b---h!”

Deputies ordered Botts to come out of the porch, at which point she held a 12-inch butcher knife up to her neck.

“Drop the knife!” the deputies commanded, as the woman started heading back towards the house.

Botts pivoted and faced the deputies, but maintained her grip on the knife.

“Shoot me, b---hes!” she yelled. “Shoot me, b---h. I hope you do!”

“Nobody wants to shoot you, Melanie,” one of the deputies told her. “Drop the knife!”

Botts began laughing manically, and repeatedly urged the deputies to shoot her.

“You think I give a f--k?” she yelled, ignoring the deputy’s attempts to get her to tell him why she was upset.

One of the deputies deployed his Taser, striking Botts and causing her to fall backwards onto the porch.

She then complied with demands to toss the knife away, and was taken into custody without further incident.

“Why didn’t you f--king shoot me, you stupid f--ks?” she asked one of the deputies as he was searching her for weapons.

“’Cause I don’t want to shoot you,” he responded calmly.

“F--king p---y -ss mother f--ks,” Botts replied, before taunting police about how long she managed to hide from them.

She then turned her attention to one of the deputies, who apparently happened to be black.

“Oh what, you’re black so that gives you a f--king excuse? You think that gives you a n----r pass?” she asked him. “You think I give a f--k?”

She assured the officers that her suicide attempt would be successful “next time.”

“I’m gonna make y’all shoot me. I’m tellin’ ya now,” she added.

After being placed in the back of a patrol vehicle, Botts slammed her head against the car, cutting herself on her forehead, WJXX reported.

Due to her suicidal actions and statements, Botts was transported to a hospital for treatment, according to WJXT.

After she was medically cleared, she was booked into the Flagler County Jail on charges of probation violation, resisting arrest without violence, domestic violence, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

“This is a tremendous example of the amazing men and women we have working here at the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office,” Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Our deputies showed incredible restraint and professionalism, and because of that, she is alive today. I hope she gets the help she needs. This story could have had a very different ending.”

It wasn’t the first time that Botts threatened to stab her boyfriend, nor the first time deputies had responded to a report that she was suicidal, Flagler Live reported.

In December of 2018, Botts’ boyfriend called 911 to report that Botts was ‘’out of control again,” and that she had allegedly attempted to stab him one day earlier.

On that occasion, Botts barricaded herself inside a bathroom and told the deputies that she would shoot herself in the head if they tried to come inside.

Her boyfriend assured them that there were no firearms in the home, and the deputies were ultimately able to convince Botts to exit the bathroom.

But as they were searching her for weapons, the suspect assaulted one of the deputies by kicking him twice.

Botts was later convicted of domestic battery, improper exhibition of a dangerous weapon, and felony battery on a law enforcement officer, and was sentenced to two years of probation, Flagler Live reported.

She also had prior convictions for illegally carrying a concealed weapon and four drug-related offenses.

Sooooo........ who gives a shit about this dumb lady? She only got tazed, which is a good thing because now her family, whom she probably hasn’t spoke to in years, can’t get a lawsuit going because “you shot my baby because y’all are racist cops!” won’t fly because she didn’t die. Did she really think she would win or get her point across? That’ll teach her for trying to gold dig some old dude.
