Youngstown, OH – A convicted murderer was attacked by his victim’s children inside an Ohio courtroom on Thursday (video below).
The incident occurred during the sentencing hearing of 62-year-old Dale Williams, who previously confessed to having killed his former girlfriend, 46-year-old Elizabeth Pledger, CNN reported.
Pledger was murdered in 2017, after Williams ran her off the road and fatally shot her, according to Mahoning County Sheriff Jerry Greene.
The victim’s sister was preparing to deliver her victim’s impact statement alongside Pledger’s son, 30-year-old Anthony Dees, when Dees suddenly rushed towards his mother’s killer, video footage showed.
Anthony leapt over a courtroom table, and managed to force his way past courtroom deputies to get to Williams.
As he pummeled his mother’s killer, his younger brother, 23-year-old Jerome Stuart Dees, jumped into the melee, and the duo proceeded to punch and kick Williams repeatedly.
One of the deputies deployed his Taser, striking Jerome, and both brothers were immediately taken into custody.
"He killed my mother, man," Jerome told the officers as he was being handcuffed. "That was my mama. She took care of me, bro."
The brothers have been charged with felony obstruction of official business, misdemeanor assault, and contempt of court.
They were scheduled to be arraigned on Friday, but their hearings were postponed until Monday due to a bomb threat at the courthouse, CNN reported.
Williams was transported to a hospital to be checked out after the attack, according to WBAL.
His sentencing hearing was postponed as a result of the brawl.
On Monday, Williams was sentenced to 23 years to life for killing Pledger, WKBN reported.
