VIDEO: Cleveland Browns Owner Not Happy With Kareem Hunt's Viral Dashcam Video

Cleveland Brown Kareem Hunt got caught with marijuana in his car after he was stopped for speeding on Jan. 21.

Rocky River, OH – The owner of the Cleveland Browns was not impressed by dashcam video that showed running back Kareem Hunt telling police he would flunk a drug test when he was stopped for speeding with an open container of vodka in his car (video below).

“What he did was not acceptable. He's got to do better," Jimmy Haslam said at a press conference on Wednesday, according to TMZ. "It's not good. Kareem knows he's got to do better."

Dashcam video documented what happened when a Rocky River police officer stopped Hunt for speeding on Jan. 21 on Interstate 90, Cleveland.com reported.

Rocky River Police Officer Michael Asbury smelled marijuana in Hunt’s car and asked him to step out of it.

Officer Asbury then asked Hunt to sit in his police vehicle while he searched the National Football League (NFL) player’s car for contraband, ESPN reported.

"I understand you're with the Browns and all that,” the officer said in the video. “You have my word: If there's nothing in that car, I'm just going to give you a traffic ticket.”

“A traffic ticket is not going to get you in trouble,” Officer Asbury told Hunt. “We constantly stop athletes around here because you're all working in Cleveland. If it's just a traffic ticket, you're not going to get in trouble, man."

Then Officer Asbury searched Hunt’s car and he found marijuana in a backpack with the NFL player’s name on it, ESPN reported.

Hunt told the officer it was his brother’s marijuana.

But when Officer Asbury asked the Browns running back if he would fail a drug test, Hunt said he would, according to ESPN.

“It’s the off season,” Hunt told the officer. “Sorry, I was having a good time.”

But the officer was not impressed, the video showed.

"I hate to say this, but you of anybody should know if you're trying to stay good, stay on the right path, this is not the way to go," Officer Asbury told Hunt. "I mean, you had, like, a good second part of the year. You don't want to screw that up over some weed.”

So, Officer Asbury cut Hunt a break, ESPN reported.

"Here's what I'm going to do: I'm going to write you a traffic ticket, then I'll just seize this stuff. Fair enough?” Officer Asbury told Hunt. “I'm not going to write you a weed ticket either. Don't lie next time."

The dashcam video also recorded Officer Asbury telling Hunt what it was like to root for the Cleveland Browns, who haven’t had a winning season since 2007.

"I mean, honestly, I'm like one of the hugest Browns fans ever," the officer explained. "Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and it's frustrating to watch the Browns every single year."

Hunt has had a somewhat troubled first few years in the NFL, ESPN reported.

He was released by the Kansas City Chiefs in November of 2018 after he was captured on video kicking a woman in downtown Cleveland.

Hunt was signed by the Browns for the next season but missed eight games in 2019 due to a league suspension for violating the personal conduct policy, in connection with the Cleveland incident, ESPN reported.

The Browns running back earned $796,471 in Cleveland in 2019 and has made $2.48 million over his three-year career.

National Felons League!! Getting paid big bucks to play a game and still can't act right.

This is why there’s such a large issue in urban communities. Urban youth are taught to worship these kinds of players and the NFL refuses to hold them accountable. I wish the officer had held Hunt accountable a well. But it looks like he was going above and beyond the call of duty (like most officers) and cut him a break. The police have to clean up where inner city leaders have failed! Kareem Hint should really look at what he is doing to highly impressionable inner city youth.

I wonder if the NFL and the players association will pay for a commercial at next years Super Bowl showing the compassion of this officer while also showing Hunt beating and kicking a woman? I wonder....hmm.

That commercial was a pos. They only did that to try to get the felons on their side. Every cop working there should have walked that night, The NFL should have shown the other side too, how the thugs treat LEO's. But the NFL has no balls.

What he did was wrong and he knows it. Got to give the young man credit for being a descent human being towards the officer.

He is a piece of crap for what he did to the girl.
But it’s weed and speeding, I think the officer did what he’d do to anyone. Yes there are a lot of morons in the NFL but they did pick a job that tears their bodies up. I played pro soccer as a goalie (still play in rec leagues) and I know I’ve had some massive concussions, arthritis in hips knees and shoulders at 40 yrs old. Now 50 and jacked up body. I eat an edible every night to sleep. If the state has legalized it then let him smoke it. I don’t get why some snobs get all upset over it. Get over minor weed (quote unquote crime) and move on.
