Philadelphia, PA - A Philadelphia police officer coming under heavy criticism for "throwing" his bike at an anarchist after they charged past the police line. Videos of the incident were posted online (below.)
What happened immediately before the incident is not clear, as the video has been heavily edited before release. What we do know is that a group of masked anarchists, dressed in all black, showed up at a Make America Great Again rally to get it canceled.
Even though the MAGA organizers had a permit and the anarchists didn't, city officials encouraged the MAGA organizers to cancel the event over fears of violence. The event was briefly canceled and the MAGA crowd started to go home before the organizers decided to go head with their planned march anyway.
The anarchists started setting off smoke bombs and taunting the police. Chants of “f–k the police” and calls for the “racist” police to go away were common.
The #disruptmaga anarchists then started marching through the streets of Philadelphia chanting about punching nazis in the face. The “nazis” are presumably Trump supporters.
The group then discovered that the MAGA rally would be marching, prompting the anarchists to find groups of Trump supporters to “shut them down.”
Philadelphia police officers tried to block the anarchists from getting to the MAGA marchers, but the anarchists ran around the police to continue with their illegal harassment.
You can see the video here, more after the break:
After the anarchists had bypassed the police. Another anarchist could be seen behind the police line. The edited video doesn't show what the anarchist was doing prior to the start of the video, but it shows an officer swinging a bike at an anarchist to move them back.
Despite all of the illegal behavior, officers only issued citations two two individuals for disorderly conduct.
You can see the video of the officer swinging the bike below.
