Anchorage, AK - Video shows a group of teens reacting violently when they were told to leave after unruly behavior in the store, which resulted in shots fired towards innocent people (video below.)
The incident happened April 22nd at around 6:45 AM at an Anchorage Carrs-Safeway at Northern Lights Blvd and Minnesota Dr, according to KTVA.
A group of teens had been fighting inside of the store and one urinated in the middle of an aisle. During the incident, one man was punched in the face, breaking his orbital socket.
Cell phone video shows the group of teens arguing with a Safeway employee as he tried to kick them out of the store. The employee held the door shut as the group smashed the windows. The group finally appeared to be leaving, and that's when Devon Brown, 18, turned towards the grocery store and opened fire at the people inside.
“Over the last several days the police department, in connection with the Carrs employees and management, as well as other citizens have provided surveillance video and other information about what happened,” Anchorage District Attorney Clint Campion announced on April 28th. “That allowed us to expand the number of people we believe were placed in fear for their lives on Saturday morning.”
“From our perspective, we believe that he acted with the intent to kill another person,” said Campion.
Devon Brown has now been charged with 16 crimes, including: attempted murder, first-and second-degree assault, weapons misconduct, criminal mischief as well as 12 counts of third-degree assault for threatening the lives of others at the scene. He faces 99 years in prison for the attempted murder charge alone.
