VIDEO: 4 Cops Beaten By Crazed Man Facing Discipline For Winning Fight

Four Milwaukee police officers were assaulted during a violent attack on Wednesday evening.

Milwaukee, WI – Four officers were viciously attacked by a violent suspect on Wednesday evening, after one of the man’s family members called police for help (videos below).

Several cell phone videos from bystanders were heavily circulated on social media in the wake of the incident, and police released bodycam footage of the encounter on Thursday.

The incident began at approximately 6:30 p.m., when an unnamed female relative of the man contacted Milwaukee police and said that 25-year-old Demetrius Lowe had broken down her door, Chief Alfonso Morales told WITI.

The woman was hiding from Lowe behind a vehicle when she placed the call, she said.

The woman explained that Lowe had been behaving in an unusual manner all weekend, and that she believed someone had put something in his drink that caused him to act violently towards his relatives and other residents.

Bodycam footage showed officers as they approached Lowe on a sidewalk outside of a residence.

Police told the man to get on the ground, but he backed away from them, yelling incomprehensibly.

After one officer’s attempt to grab him failed, Lowe punched another officer in the face, and ran away.

The officers gave chase, and were able to catch up to Lowe a short distance later.

“Mother f****r!” Lowe said, as he turned back towards one of the officers and began repeatedly punching him in the face.

The officer fell to the ground, where Lowe delivered a couple more blows, then tumbled into the street.

He squared off with police yet again, as he swung his fists wildly and continued to yell.

“We need a Taser operator. Now,” an officer said over the police radio.

The bodycam clip ended as Lowe continued to advance towards one officer, refusing to comply with repeated commands to get onto the ground.

“I am Demetrius!” Lowe yelled.

Cell phone footage captured Lowe’s continued attack on the officers, one of whom had blood running down his face.

Police backed off of the street and onto a lawn, as Lowe continued to walk towards them, ignoring their commands.

One officer deployed his pepper spray, but it had no effect, the video showed.

“I am Demetrius!” Lowe screamed at the officers repeatedly.

Two officers struck Lowe in his legs several times with their batons, but the agitated man didn’t appear to notice.

Suddenly, Lowe charged at one of the officers, who successfully avoided the man’s flying punch.

The police swarmed him, and Lowe flailed and fought as they pulled him to the ground, the video showed.

One officer deployed a Taser, but Lowe continued to resist arrest. The officers finally subdued him with multiple body strikes.

Citizens quickly converged on the scene, and began heckling and yelling at the officers.

"He always has outbursts when he’s walking through here," a man who did not want to be identified told WISN. "I think anybody can see that he’s kind of off."

Lowe was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, police said. He was also expected to undergo a mental health evaluation.

Four officers were injured during the attack.

Lowe’s repeated blows caused one officer to sustain “significant facial injuries," while others were left with bruises and swelling across their bodies, the Journal Sentinel reported.

All four officers had been released from the hospital as of Thursday evening.

One officer was placed on administrative suspension, Chief Morales said.

The other three officers were placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of an internal investigation, as per protocol.

"I support the members of the Milwaukee Police Department," Chief Morales said. "The officers take tremendous risks on a regular basis.

"However, it is important that officers abide by our training and policy," he added.

Lowe’s family has already vowed to take legal action against the Milwaukee Police Department, and said that officers did not do enough to de-escalate the situation, WITI reported.

"To see that this happens to him just breaks my heart," Lowe’s cousin, Shanikqua Stokes said. “He’s very family-oriented. He’s always jolly.”

Stokes claimed that Lowe was drugged during the weekend, and that he went to the hospital for a toxicology test. She said the unknown drug had negatively affected Lowe’s kidneys, but did not explain why the hospital released him.

"He was having hallucinations and he couldn't sleep," Stokes said. "Maybe [the police] need to refresh their training in communicating on how to talk a subject down from being aggressive instead of becoming aggressive with the subject. Two aggressive things is not going to de-escalate the situation.”

I wonder what Mr. Mayor thinks about his body cameras now

Like wild junkyard dogs. Milwaukee is getting worse than Detroit. Police should leave it to the thugs to figure things out. They don't want the cops, then let them fight it out without them. SMDH.

@FattyMatty, did you intend to use your first 2 words, "But guys" or "Butt guys"? Very appropriate!

But guys, lowest common denominator calls the boys that he rented in Thailand "foreign ports." How cute is that?

@LEO0301, at least we didn't have to turn our firearms in every shift like little sailors. Mine was even loaded, believe it or not! I bet our little sailor got a little chubby everytime he was handed a weapon.

Are you measuring your dick? Who cares what gun you have?

And yes. He's still a pussy.

@Hi_estComnDenomn: You have demonstrated your total ignorance of law enforcement. You have also demonstrated your total lack of experience when dealing with combative subjects. The only problem I see is that no one had a TASER. Sure, one showed up...finally...but there was no TASER available when it was sorely needed.

You say you carried that much equipment while you stood watch? OK, fine. Maybe you did and maybe you didn't. I know that the gear I get out of the car wearing weighs MORE than the M60 machine gun I used to carry in the field, and the M60 weighs 23.7 lb., unloaded.

You call the officer who swung the baton a "pussy". That tells me that you have never EVER been in a fight with an emotionally disturbed person, or someone who just didn't feel like being arrested.

Stop trolling, why don't you?

@Hi_estComnDenomn I thought most of you sailors types spent your free time in the showers together. Hmm, if you say I'm mistaken, well so be it then. Still doesn't address the weight of the equipment most police officers carry. You claim that you and your sailor buddies wore the same equipment and that it didn't weigh that much. So I'm telling you that I actually weighed my equipment and it does. I know that you don't believe me but that's okay because I. DON'T. CARE.

Naval ships pull in to foreign ports, dummy. Do you think everyone just leaves the ship locked up and goes into town?

@Hi_estComnDenomn "a light vest" Seriously, you're making a fool of yourself yet again. I doubt you ever wore a bullet proof vest while sailing the merry seas. Why would you need one? To protect yourself from other sailors wanting a piece of you? You silly sailor, you LOL Anyway Cheech, I weighed the equipment I carried damn near everyday for 25 years and it weighed 20lbs. I have no idea what you wore when out there pretending to be a sailor, but it certainly isn't the same equipment worn by actual police officers. Have a nice night Cheech and give your wife my best.

@LEO0301
Looks like he's wearing a light vest and a web/tacbelt. ive definitely worn that, same with every single sailor that's ever stood a top side watch.

You're acting like he's wearing something exclusive to cops.

LEO0301
LEO0301

@Hi_estComnDenomn of course you would know the weight of the equipment an officer carries...oh, wait....that's right you never wore the uniform so you haven't the slightest idea. And you've come to the conclusion an officer is a "pussy" because he lost his balance....I understand, it's like the conclusion I came to in regards to your sexuality. If you're right about the officer, I must then be right about you, Cheech.

Yeah, hes not wearing 20 pounds. And that guy that fell is specifically a pussy.

@Hi_estComnDenomn Being an athlete is not a prerequisite to being a police officer. I played sports all my life and am fairly coordinated. But when you put on over 20lbs of gear it changes your ability to do things, even for those of us who have coordination. The ballistic vest and gun belt make it difficult to maneuver. You wouldn't know that of course because sitting behind a computer all day doesn't require moving anything but your fingertips.

Of course people make mistakes. But this guy has never hit anything in his life though. I'm talking fighting, baseball, golf, etc.Look at his feet when he tries to swing. He has no idea how his body works when trying to make contact with something.

He has an asp and wields it like a magic wand. Then he goes for the one-handed one-legged pirouette twirl attack and whiffs.

@Hi_estComnDenomn Well, I'm sure a kung fool expert like yourself has never made a clumsy move in your life, at least not one that was caught on camera, right? Why don't you go back to your favorite web site "The Root" and talk with like minded people.

So he has a weapon, hits nothing but air, and falls on his ass?

I dont know how you thought your statement would make this situation less pathetic.

LEO0301
LEO0301

@Hi_estComnDenomn The officer who lost his balance wasn't throwing a punch, he was swinging an asp. Police officers aren't trained in boxing. We are taught to go hands on and use pain compliance techniques. In this case, a man so out of it on drugs felt absolutely nothing when the officers struck him repeatedly with their asps. You have a limited strike zone when using an asp because God forbid you might strike the person in a place that would actually get their attention, like the head for example. Again, the crowd is not inconsequential to the story nor the officers who have to worry not only about some crazed lunatic but also a crowd of people with a long history of trying to hurt police officers. Yes, I've personally fought people who are martial arts trained and they do well until the other person actually strikes back...lol

Hi_estComnDenomn
Hi_estComnDenomn

@LEO0301
first off, i didn't say the crowd wasn't part of the story. I said they were inconsequential to the story, since this is about slap stick cops and a drugged individual.

Second, someone charged to protect just showed that he's never thrown a punch in his life. He needs training.

Third, saying there is choreography involved with martial arts is just like saying choreography is involved in police training. OF COURSE actions are planned during training.

Do you shoot real bullets at each other in drills? No, but you train to go through the real actions for muscle memory.

LEO0301
LEO0301

@Hi_estComnDenomn yes, the crowd is a part of the story. Read it again for clarification. I'm not sure how you made the determination the officer is a "pussy" because he lost his balance but I'm sure you'll have another retarded explanation, Cheech. I'm not the least but embarrassed for the officers. In a situation like this, when you have to deal with a hostile crowd of heathens along with someone who is obviously stoned out of his mind, the officers have to be aware of how their use of force is perceived by people like you who have only done battle in a dojo where everything is choreographed.
