VIDEO: 3-4 Chicago Officers Hurt After 'Protesters' Attack Following Shooting

Protesters turned violent Saturday night following a fatal officer-involved shooting.

Chicago, IL - Protesters in Chicago started attacking police officers following a fatal officer-involved shooting earlier Saturday evening (videos below.)

The incident happened in the area of 71st St and Chappel Ave at around 5:30 p.m.

Chicago PD Chief of Patrol Fred Waller said that officers were working foot patrol when they spotted a man who looked like he may have a weapon in his waistband.

The officers confronted the suspect, who then became combative. As the suspect fought with officers, he flailed away from them.

The suspect then appeared to be reaching for his weapon, and officers fatally shot him.

Officers recovered a semi-automatic firearm and magazines from the suspect.

Chief Waller added that the suspect did not have a concealed carry permit.

The suspect and officers have not been identified at this time.

Almost immediately following the shooting, a large crowd of protesters formed and started threatening to shoot the police.

The crowd spread the story about how a barber named "Snoop" was unarmed and shot in the back as he was walking home from work.

The crowd also created a second narrative where people claimed that Snoop was armed, but they said he had a concealed carry permit.

The crowd started jumping on police cars and clashing with officers.

Many in the crowd threatened police officers, saying that they better not be around come nighttime.

At around sunset, people in the crowd started to throw glass bottles, rocks, and bottles of urine at officers. Chief Waller said three to four officers were injured in the attacks.

Officers responded by ordering the protesters back and taking down troublemakers and people who refused to listen.

So true Jimhilton911 ! People act like criminals before they even know the full story. You don't want to chance being shot by someone (Police Officer) that want to keep themselves safe so they can go home to their family at the end of the day, then follow their damn orders!!! Look at the numerous Police Officers being shot around the country. Can you blame them for taking action when one does not follow direction ? Better to be judged by 12, than carried by 6! Anyone who riots in such situations are no better than the criminals who commit the crimes that disrupt their neighborhoods. You want civility in your neighborhood, then quit being part of the problem!

I'm trying to figure out what the hell the problem is here? If I'm a police officer and I see suspicious behavior and a bulge I believe to be a gun, as an officer sworn to uphold the law I have a duty to protect my community -that's the whole reason they hired me! Thus I have an obligation to inquire. If the citizen cooperates and produces a valid concealed carry permit, then I apologize for any inconvenience, and we all go on our merry way! But if the citizen fails to cooperate, appears mentally unstable by exhibiting unruly and agitated behavior, or proceeds to behave like a perpetrator then as a law officer I will shift gears and proceed to treat him or her like a criminal. If he becomes combative (like he did in this case), and "reaches" in anger for what I believe to be a gun, what am I supposed to do? Wait for him to pull out the gun and shoot me dead?! Is that what you armchair experts on the left would do if you were in this situation? As it turns out in this case it WAS a gun, it WAS illegally concealed, and the man WAS also resisting! And so what does the community do before finding out any of the relevant facts of the case? They pull an Al Sharpton and riot! They jump on up and down on police cars and burn and loot! They scream for police to be shot! You know what I say? Screw all you lefty jackasses!!! Our police officers have every right to defend themselves, just like the rest of us.

@LEO0301 You mentoned 'strict minority laws' did you not? My response was saying you have the wrong demographic because that should more apply to Midwestern white women currently.

I read my previous comment and at no point do I mention current incarceration rates. What I did mention is that black children mostly grow up in single family homes. In fact, if you look at current stats, you'll see that number has risen to over 72%. If you think that number is exaggerated, bring up your own numbers to show otherwise.

@LEO0301 Are you getting your info from 1994? Do me a favor: check to see who is the fastest growing demographic for prison currently.

Here's a hint. It looks less like me, more like @Katarina. on that note, i wish the katarinas of the country would behave themselves. The rampant drug use and kid fucking is getting out of hand.

@ByAnyMeansNecessary: They are an embarassment to the entire HUMAN race! Thankfully, they don't represent the majority of even those who look like them. These fools are so desperate to hold onto their victim status they are willing to stoop to lies and violence to keep it. Sad way to live, really!

The reason the story changes immediately is because most of these idiots have been brainwashed their whole lives into believing anything that happens to them, by the police, is because they are black, not because they committed a crime. Way back in the early 80's most of the folks I dealt with in Oakland thought the crime was getting caught not the actual crime they committed. They blamed the police back then, but there was some actual acknowledgement of their own actions. This has been getting worse over the decades, mostly because of the press and the left wing asswipe politicians not holding all groups to the same standard. The last administration put it front and center and caused this problem to escalate faster and further. I actually laughed when the "reporter" got his phone knocked out if his hand.
