UT-Austin Antifa Student Group Promotes Setting Police On Fire

A student Antifa group at UT-Austin posted the message of violence against police on Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.

Austin, TX – A student Antifa group at University of Texas – Austin proposed changing Law Enforcement Appreciation Day to Law Enforcement Incineration Day in a nasty tweet on Jan. 9.

The Autonomous Student Network (ASN) posted a picture of a French police officer who had just been set on fire by a Molotov cocktail with the words “Instead of #LawEnforcementAppreciationDay how about #LawEnforcementIncinerationDay.”

The tweet by @ASN_Austin was initially publicized by Campus Reform, a watchdog group dedicated to exposing bias and abuse on university campuses across the United States.

The Antifa group also retweeted a number of other anti-police postings throughout the day.

The day before Law Enforcement Appreciation day, @ASN_Austin altered a pro-law enforcement graphic tweeted by @prageru.

“Hey @prageru, we fixed your graphic on the cops for you,” ASN tweeted.

In addition to posting anti-police hate messages on social media, the student Antifa group has created a text alert system for the UT-Austin campus that was publicized on their website.

Based on its description, it appeared that the purpose of the alert system was to rally protesters to cause havoc and chaos during emergencies on the university’s campus.

“We formed this system after witnessing repeated failures of the University & UTPD’s alert system to warn students about threats like: white supremacists on campus, hate crime in West Campus, everyday harassment and assault, and the crisis after the on-campus stabbing in May,” the website said.

It said that in addition to alerting students of major events, they will also use the system to report “everyday crises,” with a list of offenses that included “repeatedly catcalling.”

But the page said ASN won’t do anything that would reduce crime on the campus.

“We will not report anything that attempts to do police work,” the alert description said, and included vandalism, petty theft, and drug use on its list of illegal activities the organization didn’t find objectionable.

The university has disavowed any affiliation with the student Antifa group.

FOX News reported that a spokeswoman for UT-Austin, Sara Josephine Kennedy, said the group is not affiliated with the university, and that the school would investigate if ASN was using the school’s name without permission.
