United Airlines Passenger Attacks Air Marshals, Threatens To Kill Everyone
Correction: The original headline said that this incident occurred on American Airlines. It occurred on United Airlines.
Dulles, VA – A drunken United Airlines passenger assaulted a federal air marshal and threatened to kill everyone aboard her recent flight from Germany to Virginia, according to court documents.
“I’m going to stab everyone on the plane, then kill myself,” 27-year-old Dana Ghazi Mustafa declared during her Feb. 22 flight, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office press release. “I’m Palestinian! That’s how we get down.”
Sometime after the plane departed Frankfurt, flight attendants were alerted that a smoke detector had been activated in one of the lavatories, according to court documents.
They located Mustafa inside the bathroom, reminded her that it is against federal law to smoke on the airplane, and told her to go back to her seat.
After initially complying with their directives, Mustafa began crying and claimed that she was heading home to see her family, but that they had been killed by a drunk driver.
The flight crew relocated the distraught woman to another seat to make her more comfortable, but her erratic behavior only increased, FOX News reported.
While sitting in her new seat, Mustafa allegedly slammed her fist into the television screen in front of her, then hurled a coin at the bulkhead.
A short while later, she got up and began walking towards the rear of the plane, clicking the flint on her lighter.
According to a federal air marshal aboard the aircraft, Mustafa smelled of an alcoholic beverage when he and a second air marshal confronted her to stop her from going back into the bathroom with the lighter, FOX News reported.
She instantly became combative as they attempted to restrain her in handcuffs, and repeatedly kicked one of the marshals in his shins.
Once she was subdued, the marshals plopped Mustafa down in a seat beside them, then spotted a half-empty liter bottle of Absolut vodka resting inside her open carry-on luggage, FOX News reported.
Mustafa claimed that she was allowed to drink the vodka on her earlier flight, then began hurling threats about stabbing the other passengers and killing herself.
She also allegedly told one of the marshals that she wanted to punch him in the face and that she was trying to imagine what it would feel like to stab him, Heavy reported.
Mustafa was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on a charge of assaulting a federal officer shortly after the plane touched down at Dulles International Airport, according to FOX News.
She allegedly confessed that her claims about her family being killed by a drunk driver were a lie.
During her initial court appearance on Feb. 24, the judge allowed Mustafa to be released from jail while her case is pending, Heavy reported.
She was told to abide by travel restrictions, and was also ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.
Mustafa was court-ordered not to abuse alcohol.
According to Heavy, Mustafa’s social media profiles indicate that she is generally employed as a schoolteacher.
She faces up to eight years in prison if she is convicted of the charge against her, FOX News reported.
