UFC star Jon Jones was arrested in New Mexico for DWI after a shot was fired

Albuquerque, NM – Ultimate Fighting Championship Jon Jones was arrested for aggravated DWI, negligent use of a firearm, possession of an open container and no proof of insurance on Thursday.

A police report states that an Albuquerque police officer responded to a single gunshot at about 1 a.m.

The officer saw a black Jeep with Jones in the driver’s seat and another person outside the vehicle by the passenger-side door.

There was an open bottle of alcohol behind the passenger seat, according to ESPN.

USA Today stated that the police officer said that Jones “had green leafy substance on his shirt and pants, consistent with marijuana” and “an odor of alcohol coming from his facial area.”

When questioned by police, Jones told the officer he didn’t know where the gunshot came from.

“I got stir crazy. I got pulled over just being nice, being nice to the homeless people,” Jones told the officer, according to USA Today. “I literally just got stir crazy. I just wanted to have a drive. This is my first drive in two weeks. And I saw these homeless guys, I was being nice to them, having conversation with them, treating them like humans.”

The police report noted, “Jonathan did field sobriety tests and performed poorly on all three of them. He also performed poorly on two out of three alternative tests. He was searched and arrested.”

The Jeep was towed from the scene and then searched by police. A handgun was found underneath the driver’s seat as well as one shell casing that matched the caliber of the handgun, according to ESPN.

Albuquerque police said the gun belonged to Jones and that it would be tested to see if it was used in any other crimes.

Jones was at or above twice the legal limit when he was given a breathalyzer after he was arrested, according to ESPN.

Jones, 32, is scheduled for a court appearance on April 8.

Jones has a 26-1 record in the MMA with 10 knockouts. His last fight was Feb. 8 against Dominick Reyes when Jones won by unanimous decision.

I don't see a video above. If anyone else does please let me know. Thank you.

Here is the video of the field sobriety checks and arrest...

Jones is a funny guy.

Explaining why he was failing the FSTs, he said, "My daughter has dyslexia."

Brilliant...just brilliant.

You can take the black man out of the ghetto... the guy is worth 10 million dollars and behaves like a gangbanger.

"And I saw these homeless guys, I was being nice to them, having conversation with them, treating them like humans.”

Yeah... I can just see the officers bursting into tears over the selfless act of "treating them like humans”. The man deserves a medal for disobeying the quarantine order to hang with the homeless homies.

I wish I could have been there when he tried to explain away the gun and shell casing, after telling the "I don't know where that gunshot came from".

Even though you dress up a penguin, it's still a penguin deep down. Money and fame don't solve problems and certainly doesn't change the way you were brought up, case in point! And the greatest thing, it's got NOTHING to do with color, it's everyone!!!!

The usual suspect.....again!

Jones continues to knock himself out of competition. This one should finish what was an amazing career.

Idiot. What a waste of talent.
