Uber Driver Shoots At Passengers Who Complained He Was Going The Wrong Way

Uber driver Ahmad Ahmad pulled at a gun and started shooting at passengers who complained that he went the wrong way.

New Orleans, LA – An Uber driver opened fire on his passengers after they told him he was going the wrong way.

Ahmad Ahmad, a 53-year-old Uber driver, picked up two passengers from a bar just after midnight on Feb. 17, The Times-Picayune reported.

The passengers wanted to go from New Orleans to Kenner, about 14 miles away.

Ahmad was driving across the Mississippi River headed toward the Westbank when the passengers spoke up and told him he was going in the wrong direction, The Times-Picayune reported.

Kenner is northeast of New Orleans, but the Mississippi River runs south of New Orleans and runs just a little less than two miles south of Kenner.

Ahmad stopped his car on the side of U.S. 90 in Algiers when his passengers started arguing with him about directions, according to The Times-Picayune.

Police said that one of the passengers called another Uber driver to their location while the other passenger called 911, according to police.

The new Uber driver arrived ahead of the police, and the passengers got out of Ahmad’s car and into the other vehicle, The Times-Picayune reported.

That’s when Ahmad opened the passenger-side door on the other Uber and took the car keys out of the ignition.

Police said that Ahmad and one of his former passengers got into a “physical altercation” at that point, according to CNN.

The fight escalated and Ahmad broke away.

But instead of leaving, he returned to his own vehicle and pulled out a handgun, The Times-Picayune reported.

Ahmad opened fire on the passengers from his car.

The passengers ran away and then Ahmad fled in his vehicle, The Times-Picayune.

He was arrested later when he returned to the scene of the shooting.

Ahmad was booked into jail on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, theft, and illegal use of weapons, according to the Times-Picayune.

He was later released from custody, according to the Norfolk Daily News.

Maybe if he just said his full name to his customers, he wouldn’t need the gun.

He was released from custody? After being booked on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, theft, and illegal use of weapons? Why?

I wonder if the passenger was a woman? We all know that women are not taken seriously where or respected in their homeland. So for a woman to tell him he’s going the wrong way then yell at him...

Sounds like self defense to me. The headline is ridiculous. I bet the passengers were pain in the ass 13%ers, who were screwing him out of a fare. If he was in the wrong, why would he take the keys from the other Uber driver, knowing cops were on their way? When the passenger decided to get physical was when he chose to protect himself.
