Forsyth County sheriff's deputies arrested Corey Lewis Campbell in Walnut Cove for the Houston murder of Darlene Solis.

Walnut Cove, NC – A man wanted for the murder of a Texas deputy’s daughter was arrested in Forsyth County, North Carolina.

Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Al Herndon went to check on his 34-year-old daughter, Darlene Solis, at about 11 a.m. on April 30 after nobody in the family had been able to reach her for three days, WGHP reported.

Deputy Herndon found his daughter deceased at the Concord Little York Apartments on West Little York Road, the victim of multiple gunshot wounds, KPRC reported.

Houston detectives quickly identified Solis’s former live-in boyfriend, 31-year-old Corey Lewis Campbell, as a “person of interest” in the woman’s death, WGHP reported.

“We don’t have a suspect, we have some people we need to talk to, there’s an ex-boyfriend, who may have been living here at the time. We don’t know his whereabouts at this time. We don’t know if he’s been injured. If he is involved. We need to track him down and talk to him,” Houston Police Homicide Detective Sergeant Mike Casso said, according to KPRC.

Then investigators discovered that Campbell might have fled to North Carolina in a vehicle that belonged to Solis.

Shortly after Campbell arrived in their state, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office was tipped that the fugitive was staying with his mother in a residence in Walnut Cove, WGHP reported.

Forsyth County sheriff’s deputies surveilled and later arrested Campbell on a murder warrant out of Houston.

The sheriff’s department said Campbell was taken into custody without incident, WGHP reported.

Detectives from Houston were traveling to North Carolina to investigate, The Stokes News reported.

What an awful thing for a father to find...condolences to the officer, family and friends.

I can't imagine finding a loved one in that condition. Even more disturbing is that the person responsible was someone who supposedly cared for them.

It's good that he was caught and arrested. That has to bring some relief to the victim's family. I hope no bleeding heart judge will turn him loose!

Horrible for the father. Yet typical.
