UPDATE 05/03: Raleigh Police Department investigated and said that this was vastly over-exaggerated by the PBA, only one employee was involved, and he was fired. Further update to come.
Garner, NC - Raleigh police officers got more than they expected when they decided to eat at Smithfield's Chicken 'N Bar-B-Q in Garner, when the restaurant employees and manager serenaded them with "F--- The Police" as they tried to eat. The song was sung in the 1980s by NWA.
The incident was first reported by the Raleigh Police Protective Association on its Facebook page at 8:33 PM on Friday night.
In that Facebook post, the Raleigh PPA said:
"Raleigh Police Protective Association
THANK YOU Smithfields Chicken & Barbecue Jones Sausage location for the class and professionalism as you sang 'F- the police' as my brothers at Raleigh Police Department attempted to eat at your restaurant. The manager sang along as well. Do you really feel that was appropriate?"
According to The Raleigh News & Oserver, a response was received within three hours from David Harris, the restaurant franchise's owner. In a second Facebook post, the Raleigh PPA posted Harris' response:
Raleigh Police Protective Association shared David Harris's post·
"This is the response from Smithfield's. Thank you Mr. Harris for your quick and heartfelt response to this matter. We truly believe that the actions of these employees do not share your values.
