Independence, Missouri - An "officer down" call wen tout of the radio in Independence after officers made contact with a suspect on South Delaware just before 10 AM on Wednesday.

Independence, Missouri - An "officer down" call wen tout of the radio in Independence after officers made contact with a suspect on South Delaware just before 10 AM on Wednesday.

Local news is reporting that the officer was shot in the head.

We reached out to our police sources in the area who advised that the officer is in very critical condition, but they still haven't been told of the officer was shot or hurt through other means.

The suspect fled the initial scene for about three miles and multiple police vehicles were involved in a collision where the suspect was stopped near 23rd and Cedar.

Witnesses reported see the suspect being loaded into an ambulance and transported away.

Our thoughts and prayers are with this officer, their family, and the Independence Police Department.
