Sheriff's Office Investigating McDonald's Employee Tampering With Cop's Food

McDonald's and the Marion County Sheriff's Office are investigating who took a bite from an officer's to-go order.

Indianapolis, IN – A McDonald’s in Indiana in investigating after a local law enforcement officer was served a McChicken sandwich that had a bite already taken out of it.

The customer, who is a local police officer, told WTHR that he’s a regular at the McDonald’s located on West Morris Street and Holt Road on the west side of Indianapolis.

The officer said he stopped at the fast food restaurant and ordered a McChicken sandwich, a small fry, and some chocolate chip cookies.

But when he got to work and went to heat up his sandwich before eating, much to his surprise he found that somebody had already taken at least one bite out of his McChicken, WTHR reported.

"I started to warm up my McChicken and I noticed several small bites,” the officer explained. “I know I didn't eat it. No one else was around. I said, 'You know what? I am going to the McDonald's to see if they can get that taken care of.”

There has been a rash of food service employees tampering with and doing disgusting things to the meals ordered by law enforcement officers over the past two years and most cops have learned to check carefully before eating, just like this officer did.

"I went to the McDonald's and talked to the supervisor,” the officer said. “She offered me some free food I didn't care anything about. I just wanted to find out who the person was and they deal with that person in an appropriate way."

McDonald’s told WTHR that the tampering was an isolated incident and that they were investigating who was working on the food line when the police officer ordered his meal.

Blue Lives Matter reached out to McDonald’s corporate headquarters for comment several days after the incident occurred and received a statement on behalf of the franchisee.

“We take all claims seriously and are fully cooperating with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in their investigation. We are committed to offering our customers safe, high-quality food,” McDonald’s Owner/Operator Randy Shields said.

Update: The Marion County Sheriff's Office contacted Blue Lives Matter on July 26 to notify us that their investigation had determined that the officer had actually taken a bite out of his own sandwich before he put in the fridge, but forgotten about it.

I know you guys have to eat but with all this going on, I'd be afraid of what they spit on or what other additives they would put in a drink or inside the bun. Drive throughs should be out, going in you might be able to see who is wrapping it. People are so disgusting, shame on them. Bring a cooler with meals in it. It might save your life.
