An NYPD officer was shot about 12 hours after an assassination attempt on other officers.

New York, NY - A New York Police Department (NYPD) lieutenant was shot Sunday morning, about 12 hours after an assassination attempt on two officers sitting in a police van.

Both shootings occurred in the Bronx and appear to be connected, according to ABC News.

The first shooting happened at around 8:45 p.m. Saturday night as two NYPD officers were sitting in a marked police van, according to New York Post.

A man approached them and asked for directions before drawing a gun and shooting at them through the door.

One of the officers was hit in the neck and chin and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The gunman escaped after the attack.

Sunday morning at around 8 a.m., a man walked into a Bronx police precinct and opened fire on officers.

The attack ended when the gunman tossed his gun on the ground and was taken into custody. The shooter suffered injuries during the attack, but the extent of his injuries is not clear.

One police lieutenant was shot in the arm and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

New York Post reported that the gunman was identified at Robert Williams whose criminal history includes homicide and was recently charged for possession of a machine gun.

The job refuses to harden the pct so not to disengage with the community. Didnt know
Pct was community center. Pathetic.
This new police commissioner is a joke and is over his head. Every dept outside nyc has bullet proof glass and intercoms to deal with the public.

They spend millions giving perps released from court and rikers free pre paid debit cards but nothing to protect the cop.

The NYC PBA NEEDS TO SUE THE CITY OF NY, the Police Dept, and this spineless police commissioner.

This is the only way the police dept will harden the station houses in the city.

Dermit Shea needs to resign.

Love how they wouldnt mention the race of the perp.

Let it be white cop shooting black perp right away headlines. White cop shoots black man.

Millions for street race bating activist zero dollars for the cops on the street to be safe.
But city hall has army defending the mayor.

PBA get the lawyers out there and file law suit.

PAT LYNCH SUE THE CITY FOR NEGLIGENCE.

If I understand the new bail reform policy, this guy won't have to post bail. It's really an insane place to work as a police officer. Thanks to deBlowme and Cuomo NYC has become a Bizarro world where the good guys (police) are vilified and the bad guys are given gifts, courtesy of the tax payers, to show up for court.

“ Robert Williams whose criminal history includes homicide and was recently charged for possession of a machine gun.”

Yet the piece of shit was walking the streets, able to attempt some more killings.

I really don't like seeing this. Thugs, who target cops, should be treated as terrorists, but out FBI is too fucked up to do anything about it.

It’s a shame that someone at the police station didn’t put a bullet in his head. Now the taxpayers of NY will have to take care of him. That’s just not right. The police do the best they can with all the low life’s out there recording everything they do. Those people need to take a look in the mirror!
