The two uniformed officers stopped by The Lodge Cactus during their graveyard shift on Thursday night.

Las Vegas, NV – A restaurant employee who refused to serve two uniformed Las Vegas police officers on Thursday night has been suspended and faces potential termination.

The incident occurred at The Lodge Cactus near Southern Highlands Parkway and Cactus Avenue, KTNV reported.

Details regarding what occurred were shared on the Las Vegas Metro Police Officer Wives Facebook page the following morning.

According to the post, the two Las Vegas Metro Police Department (LVMPD) officers were working the graveyard shift when they stopped by the restaurant to have a meal.

“As officers entered and approached the bar, the bartender shook his head, ‘No’ and motioned his fingers across his neck as if to say, ‘Stop,’” the post read.

When the officers asked him if they could sit down and place an order, the bartender refused.

“We don’t serve you guys here anymore,” he said, according to the post.

The officers initially thought the employee was “joking,” but he quickly “emphasized that he was serious,” the post read.

They immediately left the restaurant without further incident.

An on-duty manager later confirmed to KSNV that multiple managers were looking into the allegations, and said that the situation would be “rectified” by the end of the day on Friday.

The Las Vegas Police Protective Association (PPA) later released a statement about the incident, noting that it had “sparked outrage” throughout the law enforcement community, KSNV reported.

According to the PPA, the owner of the corporation reached out to the union and explained that the employee’s actions were not indicative of the business’s beliefs about law enforcement officers.

“The bartender in question is on indefinite suspension facing potential termination,” the PPA said. “The Lodge has the highest respect for the men and women of LVMPD and love nothing more than to have them in their establishments, whether on duty or off. They explained that one man’s actions are not indicative of the feelings of The Lodge Corporation and they hope that officers will still come to the establishments.”

The PPA said they had a “great conversation with the corporation owner, and that they believe “the issue has been addressed and handled by ownership,” KSNV reported.

“Corporate would love to see officers and their guests come to the establishments this weekend,” the PPA added.

The LVMPD also released a statement about the incident.

“While we consider this behavior unacceptable, we firmly believe that the refusal was an employee acting solely on his own, and it does not represent the viewpoint of the establishment,” the department told KTNV. “The involved employee has now been suspended from work.”

“According to management at The Lodge, it welcomes law enforcement at its business,” the statement continued. “The LVMPD has worked hard establishing relationships with its’ business partners in the community and the presence of officers is welcomed by business owners.”

It is unclear when the decision regarding the employee's potential termination will be made.

Two local establishments, Distill and Remedy's, are offering free meals to all officers in uniform from midnight to 8 a.m. through Feb. 21 at all of their locations in the Las Vegas valley after earlier reports had officers not being served at a competitor's bar and grill.

I'm sick of hearing BS from employees. Here is an idea When hiring one of these people, the rules are no disrespect to any one uniformed or not If it happens, immediate firing and no unemployement check No, excuses, if they don't like working and a paycheck then go to a safe zone, If they can find one that will support them

And serious impact on the business

Suspension pending termination, with cause, no unemployment, and list their names publicly so if someone looks up why they were fired previously there is no question as to why.

At least the restaurant management took appropriate action.

Do you really think we need to return to the days when "some" were served and "others" were not served? Really, you'd like to return to those days? I thought we were over this, just keep stirring the pot. We don't have to go somewhere else, we are AMERICANS and can go where we'd like. We resolved the color problem years ago, let's not start it all over again. We don't need separate restrooms, drinking fountains, dining areas, or anything else. It was wrong then and it would be wrong now! Can't you quit stirring everything? No one is on your ass daily, leave law enforcement alone!

Would you feel the same way if you were refused service for the way you looked? I'm guessing your snowflake ass would be running to Benjamin Crump as fast as your little legs would carry you.

You know, if you had chosen to stay in school and actually decided to learn a few things- like reading comprehension- you might have saved yourself from looking like a jackass. Maybe, go back and READ the actual article. Especially the part where it mentions that the WIVES of the two officers were the ones who posted about the incident- not the officers, themselves.

Either way, that pos, soon-to-be Ex-employee should have remembered that he CHOSE to take a job where he would be serving the public- regardless of who they are or what they do for a living. If he didn't like the idea of providing the same service to law enforcement, he should have pursued a different line of work.

If you don't share the same views as the people who follow this page or agree with the context of the articles (news flash- it's a page dedicated to informing people of the bullshit our country's LEOs have to deal with on a daily basis- AND exposing the bad eggs who work in the law enforcement/corrections) I recommend that you kick rocks and find a different page to follow. No one here is going to listen to your pathetic bullshit but, I guarantee you, we will always be happy to set you right back into your place if that's what tickles your pickle.

Lowestcom and his electric cohorts make lots of claims but never back it up with any verifiable proof. And on the very rare occasion when they do, they'll try and claim it backs up their allegations when it clearly proves them wrong. It is fun watching them dance.

There's where you are WRONG! Police Officers are BLUE, that's a color! Whether they're white, black, brown, or whatever it's a color, Einstein! Gawd, you're a MORON!

LEO0301
LEO0301

Not really. The first thing people notice when they see you is the color of your skin, the way you LOOK. It may not be a racist response for the officers but the employee showed a bias which is just as bad. It's certainly interesting that you see no problem with the bartenders response to the officers. You would think just the opposite. I mean you bitch and complain about the way people treat blacks YET somehow you think this is okay. It would be nice if you could remain consistent.

Isn't this discrimination and doesn't that make the restaurant liable? What is different about this and the people that have lost their bakeries for refusing a customer for a cake? Sue the restaurant and the individual. More, I would never go back in there again. No idea what they might do to your food.

LEO0301
LEO0301

This seems like a no brainer for the restaurant management to immediately terminate the employee. But they didn't do that. Why? Are they waiting to see the publics reaction? Even if they fire this guy I would never go there as a Vegas police officer. How would you know if one of his friends decided to taint your food to get even like @Hi_estComnDenomn used to do when he was in the fast food industry?

If I was the owner/manager, it would be understood by all employees that if they refused service , confronted or indicated any bias against any customer they would be immediately terminated right on the spot.

It's nice to see businesses and management addressing these activist employees and making clear that the personal opinions they may have do not extend to them at work refusing to serve people. As for the employee just how stupid are you, that you think it's ok to pull a stunt like that. You have to be one brain dead liberal.

He may be terminated? There should be no question about it. He should have been fired the minute the manager was aware of it. This attitude toward police officers has to stop.
