Report: Shooter Opened Fire, Killed Himself After Losing Video Game Tournament

The Jacksonville Landing mass shooter allegedly opened fire after losing a video game tournament.

Jacksonville, FL - A gunman opened fire and shot 11 people at a Madden 19 video game tournament at Jacksonville Landing on Sunday.

LA Times reports that the gunman was a video gamer who participated in the tournament and lost.

Steven Steveyj Javaruski told the Times that the shooter targeted a few people and killed two or three before fatally shooting himself.

At a press conference, authorities said that they were still working on confirming the identity of the gunman.

Video of the tournament was released which captured audio of the gunshots and screaming.

Authorities have said that they are aware of the video and are asking for any more video to be forwarded to them.

The Sheriff's Office has said that there is no longer a threat with the lone gunman dead.

This is what happens when everyone gets a trophy and is never told no, they can't handle it.

So sad for those who lost their loved ones. From the Jacksonville Landing Website: "Possession of a weapon, even if legally carried (except by law enforcement officers) is absolutely prohibited on Landing property" That worked.

I find it interesting that nearly all reports from various outlets all mention that the shooter was a "white male" within the first few sentences. It seems a little too purposefully overt.

I can already tell that guns will be blamed, and it may of played a factor on how he had access, whether it was legal or not. But what will be missed by many, probably on the left, is how someone brought up is modern society thinks its a rationale decision to shoot and killl a bunch of people because he lost at a video game tournament .

For those who want to argue gun control and say Chicago, with STRICT gun control measures, doesnt work because neighboring states have lax laws and people get there guns there and bring them in . Explain to me how heroin is illegal in EVERY state in the union and we have an epidemic of it? Laws do not stop people who want to possess guns or drugs!

I always got trophies. They even let me wear a Sailor Moon outfit and told me I was an Intel Officer, going under the name Commander Colon.

@Fol that's how the news is supposed to work, clown. It was a Twitch streamed event at a video game tournament. If the news didn't put it out first, then the picture of this terrorist would have already been all over YouTube, Twitch, and Reddit.

I wonder whether stricter federal gun control laws could have prevented this tragedy?.........

Mall. "Gun Free Zone". Signs sure work, don't they? Kid was a member of the "resistance" and a liberal. Don't ban guns: ban liberals.
