Police Union Says They Were Duped By NFL Team, Tells Cops To Return Tickets

The Broward County Police Benevolent Association had a message for their members about the Miami Dolphins.

Miami, FL - A south Florida police union is asking officers to return their NFL tickets after they say they were duped by the Miami Dolphins.

The Broward County Police Benevolent Association posted the message to their Facebook page on Friday.

In the message, the PBA explained that they were told that the Miami Dolphins were going to honor all first responders.

Dolphins players have a history of kneeling during the national anthem in protest of police, and the PBA believed that the kneeling was going to stop.

However, players kneeled in protest of police anyway. The PBA explained what happened:

The Broward County PBA recently offered our members discounts to a Miami Dolphins game because that franchise said they were going to honor all First Responders.

We entered into this partnership with the understanding that the Dolphins organization would require their players to stand for the National Anthem. This did not happen at last night's preseason game against Tampa Bay.

As a result, the BCPBA will no longer participate in this ticket program, and we are asking all of our members, as well as members of the Dade County PBA and Palm Beach County PBA, not to participate either.

If you have already purchased tickets to this game, we encourage you to call the Dolphins ticket office to request a refund because this organization obviously DOES NOT honor First Responders and the dangers they put themselves in every day.

Colin Kaepernick started kneeling on the field during the National Anthem in the pre-season of 2016, protesting the flag over allegations that American police officers are racist killers.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder,” Kaepernick said at the time.

Kaepernick opted out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers after the 2016 season and sat out the 2017 NFL season when no other teams signed him.

His teammate Eric Reid was a vocal supporter of the anthem protests. Reid also didn't sign again with the 49ers, and became a free agent.

Both players have since been unemployed and have filed a lawsuit against the NFL alleging a conspiracy to keep them out of the game in retaliation for the upheaval caused by the kneeling.

I am a die-hard Patriots fan and even though my team chooses to stand for the national anthem. The team that plays against the New England Patriots protest the national anthem. I have not watched a football game since all of this started with the idiot on the 49ers. I will not watch any football until these overpriced ignorant thugs stand proudly for our national anthem and give honest respect. Now I know that will never happen because when their pocketbook or wallet is involved they will do whatever it takes to protect it which makes them total hypocrites. I come from a long line of military involvement as well as respect for our LEO's and all they do to protect this country and its citizens. To me NFL is not the National Football League but the national felons League. Do I miss watching the New England Patriots play hell yeah but I won't watch any games ever again. I am a firm believer in the First Amendment and Free Speech but do it on your time not on my time. They're getting paid millions of dollars to throw a little Pig skin covered ball so protest in the neighborhoods you believe have racial Injustice. Go into the inner cities where gun violence and black on black crime is running rampant. Talk to the youth in those neighborhoods and spend some of your hard earned "sic" money building community centers and sports centers where the teenagers have some place to go to learn something instead of hanging out on the street corners dealing drugs, selling young women in the sex trade and shooting up innocent people in drive-by shootings are bad drug deals. In other words put your money where your knee is

We had a couple of Eagle's player's kneel during the National Anthem in Philly during a preseason game. Until these players get their heads out of their asses and support their country, I refuse to spend my hard earned money that goes to pay any portion of their their outrageous salaries; Super Bowl Champs or not.

If you wish to kneel for the National Anthem or the Pledge of Allegiance then here is my advice. Go somewhere they do not have either and it should not be a problem. You wont have to look at the flag either. I spent 26 years, three wounds, and live my life with the memories of friends lying in the mud and dying. I am in pain every minute of every day so you can kneel for something you BELIEVE is happening. Go fight for the things we have in this country. I can guarantee you will change you B**LS*^t name and attitude. Or just move..I still think thats better.

This is a free speech issue. The same rights that allow white supremacists to March and parade and make speeches about "peaceful racial cleansings" also allow anyone to kneel for the national anthem. Me, I stand for the Pledge of Allegiance but I never stand for the national anthem. The national anthem was written by a racist author and even has a racist lyric. Look it up and tell me if I'm wrong. I don't protest the police, I protest bigotry and hatred so I have affirmed a lifelong pledge to never stand for the "National Anthem". Everyone is making too big a deal, but I guess this issue is too much for some people.
