Police Say Student's Gun Photos Lead Investigators To His Child Porn

Police say a concerned father gave cops his son's phones over photos with guns but investigators found child porn too.

Miami, FL – A father worried about disturbing social media posts his son had made about guns gave police his son’s smartphones and they found child porn on them, police say.

Sean Mesa, 18, faced charges of possessing child pornography and improper display of a firearm, the Miami Herald reported. He was jailed Friday.

The U.S. Homeland Security Investigations’ Violent Gang Task Force took interest in Mesa after they saw him posing with guns in photos that were posted on Instagram and Snapchat. Mesa was “recklessly displaying firearms and pointing them at the camera,” according to the arrest warrant.

Miami-Dade Schools Detective John Messenger went to Mesa’s high school Feb. 20 to talk to him about Mesa’s fascination with guns.

Mesa told the police officer “he likes guns and it was his right to post on social media whatever he wished,” the Miami Herald reported.

Mesa’s father was concerned about the social media posts involving weapons and gave police his son’s two phones.

The U.S. Secret Service looked at the phones and found a video of what they say appeared to be a child under age 10 being sexually abused, according to the warrant.

The video had been sent to two others in a group chat, the Miami Herald reported.

After his interview with police, Mesa posted on Snapchat another post that showed a pistol on his lap with the words, “now they watching so I ain’t stopping.”

“The latest Snapchat photos have students and staff at Dr. Michael Krop Senior High alarmed and afraid,” according to the warrant.

Police have responded to a flood of threatening online posts after the Feb. 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High in Parkland, Florida where Nikolas Cruz murdered 17 people and wounded 15 people.

What has become of our country? We forced parents to stop spanking their kids, took God out of everything and gave them to much on that has killing in it games, movies, on and on and we wonder why kids are so disrespectful. No value for life. Then get upset with police for arresting them. Police have become targets for the sick people and that is totally unacceptable. They have families to. The killing all needs to stop. It took a lot for is Dad to turn his own child in but very proud of him for doing it. Maybe her saved people by ng so.

The democrats are to blame, the perverted shit they shove in our kids faces, turns some of them the wrong direction. Lock up perverted Democrats and this most likely will stop.

I don't excuse the child porn, but those pics are not recklessly holding firearms.

He is not pointing the guns at any person or at a crowd. And, his finger is not on the trigger of the AR...kinda hard to see on the handgun. That is not reckless.

You don't even know if the guns are loaded. And, you don't know if this is on public property...in fact it looks like private property. The muzzle is the important part. Instructors and many people point muzzles for unloaded guns in various directions all the time. You must exercise reasonable precautions. He was not pointing the muzzle at anyone...even if unloaded would be reckless.

Yes I blame the person doing he crime, but I blame those who teach hate, violence, intolerance, racism, kids today are taught to hate at very young ages as young as 3&4 yrs old, they are taught to hate anyone who has a different opinion from theirs. Our kids are not getting education, they are being told to leave classes to riot/protest. Teachers are allowing kids to be bullied& do nothing. Blame on he criminal, but also blame parents&teachers.

Number one rule of gun safety (was taught this when I was 6 am 62 now and it has not changed) NEVER POINT A GUN AT ANYONE OR ANYTHING UNLESS YOU PLAN ON SHOOTING IT!!!!!

I agree, loaded or not loaded. Do not EVER point a gun Willy nilly. Weather his finger was on the trigger or not during the split second the photo was taken is 100% irrelevant. This idiot obviously has no respect for the firearm or people, I’m sure he would be just as reckless and stupid even if he knew it was loaded.

Umm. Time to forget about the gun and concentrate on child porn people!

There are a million pictures of people posing with guns. Do a Google search. There would not be enough jail cells to hold them all. I don't think that is the issue here. The child porn is.
