Police Dept. Approves Illegal Alien With Active Warrant For Police Ride-Along

A background check revealed he was wanted for blowing off immigration court, but his request was approved anyway.

Germantown, MD – An illegal alien wanted for blowing off an immigration court date was approved to go on a ride-along with the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).

The unnamed illegal alien submitted an application to shadow a MCPD officer back on Nov. 13, 2019, WJLA reported.

He noted on the form that he wanted “to know a little about the responsibilities and dangers of an officer,” according to the news outlet.

In considering his application, the MCPD ran a background check on the man, which is standard procedure when considering ride-along requests.

Police soon discovered that the man had an active warrant out for his arrest for failing to show up at immigration court.

According to MCPD policy, ride-along applications must be forwarded to the district or unit commander for review any time a background check reveals that the applicant has a criminal history.

The commander will ultimately decide whether to deny or approve the application.

If approved, the commander must notify the officer who is being shadowed that the ride-along has a criminal history.

According to WJLA, the illegal alien had also participated in the MCPD’s Hispanic Community Academy, which aims to build relationships between the Latino community and police.

The 12-week course is taught in Spanish.

The illegal alien told the news outlet that he is a church chaplain and has a wife and children.

The completed background check was handed off to MCPD 5th District Commander Mark Plazinski on Dec. 8, along with a handwritten note.

"Lt. [this man] is part of Spanish speaking Citz Academy. He (has crim history) is 10-60 FTA for immigration deportation," the message read.

Commander Plazinski approved the illegal alien’s ride-along request anyway.

During a press conference in August of 2019, Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, a Democrat, announced that he does not consider immigration issues to be criminal.

"This is not the role of the county government, per se, to be involved in doing this," Elrich said at the time, according to WJLA.

“People have referred to us as a sanctuary city,” he told the news outlet.

Despite being granted approval for a ride-along, which was set to take place on Feb. 1, the scheduled meet-up fell through.

"Somebody called me and told me they were not able," the illegal immigrant told WJLA on Monday. "I told him, 'If there's a problem, no problem. That's no problem.' It would have been a good experience, but it's nothing I have to do."

The identity of the person alleged to have contacted the man has not been released.

MCPD sources said that the request was a first for the department.

"It's great that this man trusts the police. That's exactly what we want,” one veteran MCPD officer told WJLA. “At the same time, however, it's not a good look for the department to be shuttling around people who are wanted by federal authorities.”

I'd be happy to give him a ride along. Here, you can sit in the back seat, try on the cuffs and 1st stop will be county jail. Now you'll have a lot to talk about when you go home.

It's time to take one of these communities to federal court for violation of federal laws have the elected official arrested and charged prosecuted .That will bring this bullshit to an end.

it's a shame that a law enforcement officer isn't expected to enforce all of the laws, local, county, state and federal, in certain parts of the US.....

In California, at least back when the state did it's job, failure to serve an active warrant when the officer knew one existed was considered obstruction of justice on the part of the officer. This came out of something called "The Backus Decision" which had to do with my department.

This smug sanctuary city/state crap has to stop. How do they continue to get away with that? I liked tribute to ICE and the Border Patrol last night.

Okay, I’m having some serious issues with this one. Why isn’t this man being arrested or detained by ICE for blowing off court and this warrant?

As a man “claiming” to be a church chaplain, the Bible tells him that he’s to submit to the local authorities and obey the rule of law.

Nowhere in the Bible is there an exemption for clergy to disrespect or disregard those in authority.

His very presence here illegally shows he has contempt for the law and thinks he is above the rule of man.

I would not want to be in his shoes on the day of reckoning.

Commander Plazinski must have his head up his ass. Do your job. Someone should have locked that applicant up somewhere along the line and handed his ass over to ICE. What a sorry situation. And Co. Exec Mark Elrich isn't LEO and shouldn't have a say in who gets arrested. Too many liberal fingers in the enforcement pie.

I can't help but wonder what the cops in the department felt about it. It seems the administration is rubbing their faces in it.

Your job is to uphold the law. That includes federal law. You don’t get to pick and choose what laws you want to enforce.
