Parkland, WA - A Pierce County Sheriff's Deputy was involved in a collision Tuesday at around 3:30 PM, which left his car mangled.
The deputy was involved in the violent collision on Tuesday south of Washington High School on Tule Lake Road South. An oncoming pickup truck hit an icy patch of road, forcing it into the deputy's lane. The area had recently seen over a foot of snowfall which started to melt before freezing.
After the collision, the deputy was entrapped in his vehicle, and it took fire crews 30 minutes to cut him out.
The unidentified deputy is awake but his injuries are serious. The pickup driver was not seriously injured.
It's unknown at this time if speed or other negligence was involved in the collision.
Our thoughts and prayers are with this injured deputy and his family.
