Philadelphia, PA - A pro-Trump rally was canceled on Saturday after a group of masked anarchists showed up, started setting off smoke bombs, and harassing police.
MAGA marches have been organized across the country for Saturday, with most occurring without issues. The rally in Providence, RI was crashed by a marching band, black lives matter activists, and a handful of anarchists. The Providence anti-MAGA protesters have to far been peaceful, mostly focusing on making enough noise to drown out the MAGA crowd.
The scene in Philadelphia was much more dramatic. A #disruptmaga group had been talking for weeks on social media about crashing the MAGA rally in a way which suggested there would be violence.
At the start of the rally, a large group of masked anarchists, wearing all black, started setting off smoke bombs and taunting the police. Chants of "f--k the police" and calls for the "racist" police to go away were common.
The MAGA group decided to cancel their rally over concerns about violence.
The #disruptmaga anarchists then started marching through the streets of Philadelphia chanting about punching nazis in the face. The "nazis" are presumably Trump supporters. The group is talking about finding groups of Trump supporters to "shut them down."
At the time of this writing this event is still in progress, with the anarchists marching through Philadelphia chanting, "Who do you serve? Who do you protect?" as the Philadelphia police department escorts the group safely through the city as they shut down traffic.
