Nogales Officer In Patrol Car Shot By Carjacker, People Rush In To Film

A Nogales police officer was shot on Friday, then people rushed up to film him.

Nogales, AZ - A Nogales Police Department officer was shot on Friday after responding to a carjacking. Numerous videos have surfaced of people who responded to the aftermath by filming the officer in his patrol car.

The incident started Friday at around 3 p.m. in the Mesa Verde Drive area when an officer was responding to a report of a carjacking, according to Nogales International.

The officer saw the suspect vehicle fleeing the area and initiated a traffic stop.

Shots were fired during the traffic stop, leaving the officer critically injured. The suspect fled from the scene.

UPDATE: The officer has died.

Videos have surfaced on social media which appear to show people rush in to video the critically injured officer in his patrol car.

The videos are extremely disturbing. We will not be posting the videos.

The officer's patrol car had numerous gunshot holes in the windshield, both driver's side windows shot out, and the passenger side window shot out, as well as bulletholes in the car's body.

The officer was airlifted to Tuscon in critical condition.

Officers located the suspect and a pursuit started which involved another gunfight and two more carjackings before the suspect was taken into custody near Mariposa Manor Trailer Park, according to Nogales International.

Most younger people in our society were never taught simple common courtesy & acts of kindness. Our family was badly affected by someone this week who went ballastic over something that could have been completely prevented by simply using the words, "Please may I get ahead of you in line?" Acts like this are inexcusable. Not long ago, everyone would have understood that & been doing all they could to help the wounded officer! I don't recognize this world anymore, nor do I want to live in it. There's got to be a far better place with far better people . . . somewhere.

@stupidisasstupiddoes
But what does respect have to do with even-keeled reporting? If you show someone getting shot, as they do daily on this site, how honest is your reporting if you decide not to show a particular shooting based on your feelings?

Isn't this what people like you would call "fake news"?

Actually we've been too busy with cops getting murdered this week so the serial killer story has been repeatedly pushed back. And I see absolutely nothing to be concerned about with that story and don't even know what you're alluding to.

They won't show the footage? Odd. They released video of shootings in the back, shootings in the front, shootings of children, chokeholds, cars running over people, but they won't show an officer bleeding out. A dying body is a dying body in the end. But I guess it's not a show if it's a cop.... The footage will pop up eventually. America loves to watch....

That is the single dumbest statement I’ve ever heard. Why would law enforcement be pissing their pants? 42 years ago there was no DNA and they could only go on evidence gathered at the time. Go back to licking windows, genius.

What he's alluding to is that the serial killer was a police officer during the time of the killings. I guess this asswad thinks that there are hundreds of serial killer ex-police officers still wandering the streets who will eventually be found through DNA. Shelby has a hard on for law enforcement and gets his jollies whenever he finds out about a police officer getting arrested.

@LEO0301 I had a very disturbing thing happen in my home last night. A dear friend was visiting but suddenly collapsed on me. Within seconds she stopped breathing. I had to drag her to the floor and do CPR. She was dead. Everytime I stopped CPR to check for vitals, she stopped breathing. Medics finally arrived and took over, and ultimately got her to the hospital and is alive. Can you imagine if this had happened in public? Everybody and their mother would have their cameras out wondering the best place to upload their video. I bet I would have been hard pressed to find anyone that would have even helped me or even call 911. I know you know how exhausting performing CPR can be. I feel I was better off that this happened in private. This has become a very sad world indeed.

How in the world is it fake news? Does it mean to you that just because they decided not to provide a video it can't be real? The shooting of the officer is real. There is nothing fake going on, Cheech.

Im not saying it's fake news because it didn't really happen. It's fake news because they change their policy on showing a shooting because the victim doesn't fit their normal profile.

When any other news outlet changes their procedures for some sort of bias, that's what's fake.

It usually helps to read the full article, the videos they won’t show are people filming him in his car, after he was shot. AFTER
